What a cathartic heartbreaking truth but not without hope. So appreciate you sharing your story. Blessings to you! Looking forward to what comes next for you.
Amazing. The podcast was so easy to listen to and enjoy! Luke and Tifah and Aaron are insightful, honest, and funny! I laughed, I cried. I gained so much appreciation of the music too. It so enriched each song! I wish I had a podcast like this for all my favorite albums.
Separation and divorce, I have found my thoughts and heart played out so eloquently through the podcast and music. Divorce has been one of the loneliest experiences of my life only now exacerbated by ex-husband’s sudden death at a young 53. It begins a whole new grieving process as I grapple with losing the father of our children and what “single parenting” truly means. Latifah, thank you for unknowingly climbing inside my head and speaking truth to pain, confusion, rage, insanity and the windin... more
This podcast blew me away. Equal parts behind the music, and counseling. Love the way that Latifah lets us in on her story, her process and her heart. If you’re hurting, if you love good music, if you love good storytelling - this is a must listen.
I didn’t leave my apt all weekend until I had heard and re-heard every lament, lyric, and exhale of this project. As an artist, therapist, and fellow human being, I say yes to all the things. The album and podcast is the new homework I will tirelessly nag my clients about until they’ve heard and wept over your story, which is their story. And then there’s my own heart, that has been in need of some re-humanizing lately, in light of parallel loss. Thank you for bleeding this out for all of us.
This podcast has me hooked. What a heartbreaking story the artist has to share, but what an inspiration to live in the moment and utilise honest human emotion to create beautiful works of art. It validates and owns so much emotion. Thank you
this is perhaps one of the most lifegiving conversations I've gotten to be a part of as a listener of podcasts. This is a great way to walk through an artist's creative process as well as a very real understanding of her story and walking through heartbreak. My boyfriend cheated on me a few months ago, and it wasn't until this podcast that I felt like I found the words for my feelings and even permission to feel what I'm feeling. I don't normally write reviews, but this podcast was definitely wo... more
"Catharsis meets talent and inspiration, a truly powerful and transformative combination." This is how my 65 year old father responded to the first episode of this podcast, and I think it is a great review. This is quite possibly the most honest and vulnerable podcast I have ever heard. I am an avid podcast fan and have listened to hundreds of diffferent podcasts, from the most popular to some super obscure podcasts, and this is one of the most beautiful I have ever listened to. First off, Tifah... more
Haven't heard anything like this before. Deeply emotional interviews and you get to see how an artist puts that into their work.
This podcast is so deep. And the song stories behind them are so honest and sincere. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I ended up bingeing it and it ultimately left me so inspired.
This is the most holistic piece of art I’ve ever engaged with. I had to wipe tears off my face several times yesterday listening to a few episodes. It’s brutal and beautiful and heartbreaking and incredible. Thank you for making this. It’s a big deal.
As a lover of deep podcasts, this is one of the most profound podcast I’ve experienced. It’s not just a story, it’s an intensely honest journey through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Your heart will fall, feel the melancholy and rise with Latifah’s and then learn how the soundtrack for the journey came to be. Thank you for this important work.
Definitely something you won’t want to stop listening to. Every element of this is heartbreakingly beautiful- the honesty and vulnerability of the discussion, the music, the way it sounds.
I will be the one binge listening tonight and into the morning. Thank you for your honesty! And thank you to your team for helping make the story seem so real and vulnerable. This is excellent and I have already begun to share this as a tool for those in life life who are going through or have already gone through divorce. I may actually use it is premarital counseling.

It’s so full of beauty and hurt and how ones wades through all of that and to be strengthened by it. A definite must-listen.
