Kara and I hop over to the mics straight out of the apiary after the 2024 seasons first inspections. Our spring has been cold and rainy so far and we're definitely a few weeks behind previous seasons but we're feeling great! more
First we talk how understanding bee biology can help in decision making with a deep dive on the effects of pollen feeding followed by whether we think you can stop your bees from swarming. Finishing up with an 'Herb Corner' about medicinal mushrooms ... more
It is almost spring!! And for many that means starting their first year keeping bees. We're answering some common beginner questions including equipment, buying bees and bad teachers (luckily we know some good ones!), how we handle spring mites, and ... more
Bee Side Episode! We're hanging out with Chris Stoudt of Stout Lawn and Pest and host of The Root Zone Podcast. We talk winter lawn practices, spring prep and that middle ground where your lawn can be more than just a green desert! more

Finally a podcast on bees that’s real. I recently found this podcast after listening to a few others. I’ll continue to listen to them as they are more the science side of things. These guys are easy to listen to (only listened to a few episodes so far) and come across as regular people. I thought I was the odd one out when I recently started in beekeeping that I wasn’t totally geeked out on the science…just let me know what’s working and not. Quality of audio is top notch so it’s easy to listen ... more
I started listening to these guys about half way into my first summer beekeeping. I’ve learned a lot from them. They’re easy to listen to and the conversation is fun. They are good story tellers as well. Be sure to check them out on Instagram as they post good content too. If you’re looking for 100% beekeeping topics only then listen to something else or read a book. Sometimes they’ll go off on tangents(entertaining) or talk about stuff like chickens or other related topics but it always circles... more
For people interested in learning something about beekeeping try a different podcast. Too much rambling and off topic conversations to make this worth listening to.
I like these guys. I’m a beekeeper too, but backyard. I pick up a couple things from these guys but mostly they are just cool and it’s enjoyable. If you are looking to improve your beekeeping skills, maybe not the best podcast. If you are looking to find a casual podcast with real people going through real stuff and also a little beekeeping: you’ll probably love it. Rock on.
I just can’t stomach the hipster way they talk and the inane conversation they have with nothing to do with beekeeping. There are way better pods out there.
