  • Smart, funny and entertaining every time

Father Malone knows his stuff, is a great host (as someone else said, he’s got a voice that’s made for podcasting) and treats an episode of, say, Tales from the Darkside with the same open-minded thoughtfulness that he gives a classic movie.

  • Must Listen to Podcast!

Thank you Father Malone for introducing me to the 1976 cult classic animated film 'Allegro Non Troppo' by Bruno Bozzetto. I have never seen this before. Being a cat lover I will be especially grateful for you introducing me to this melancholy yet beautiful short animation of the cat’s life. It was immensely moving and brought me to tears. Your knowledge is astounding, your voice hypnotic and your delivery is just perfect. I have caught up with most of your podcasts and you are on my must listen ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Father Malone's Weekly Guest Spot - The Doors (1991) - The Kulturecast
Q: How did Randall Johnson describe the origin of the Doors script and the drafting process?
Johnson explains he wrote multiple drafts starting in the mid-1980s, faced resistance from producers, was fired, rehired, and ultimately vindicated in Writers Guild arbitration over credit, with Stone reworking much of his material during production.
Father Malone's Weekly Guest Spot - Dawn of the Dead (1978) - The Projection Booth
Q: What drew you to Dawn of the Dead as a central project?
Romero's concept evolved from Night of the Living Dead, and his interest in examining how a small survivor group negotiates rationality, social dynamics, and materialism within a collapsing society.
Father Malone's Weekly Guest Spot - 24 Hour Party People (2002) - The Projection Booth
Q: How does the film approach the balance between truth and legend?
The panel agrees that the movie deliberately blends fact and fiction, using stylized scenes and dramatized events to convey the emotional truth of the era, while acknowledging that some incidents are embellished or invented for narrative impact.
Father Malone's Weekly Guest Spot - Raising Arizona (1986) - A Year in Horror with Paul Waller
Q: What's the worst Nicolas Cage film you've seen so far?
Ghost Rider is cited as the most disappointing in terms of execution, though not necessarily the worst; the guest argues Cage has done many projects for money, yet remains a compelling actor with a broad range of choices.
Father Malone's Weekly Guest Spot - Raising Arizona (1986) - A Year in Horror with Paul Waller
Q: Where does this film fit in your history with Cage? Was this formative or did it come later?
For the guest, Raising Arizona was formative; he saw it in theaters at 14 and it helped cement his long-standing interest in Cage, alongside his earlier work in Valley Girl and other projects that shaped his career trajectory.
