  • Top tier Metallica podcast

The host has referred to himself as very interesting a few times, which seems arrogant until you realize that he’s right. Talented musician. His load box set episodes are excellent.

This guy is unbearable. I don’t even think he likes Metal at all. He goes on about Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam, and other lame bands on a show that’s support be about Metallica.

  • 72 seconds

72,seconds in and you know that one of these bozos loves the sound of his voice so much he cannot stop talking. Talking about KissPsycho circus and not knowing that Ace and Peter had virtually nothing to do with that album. Lot of talk and zero knowledge.

The absolute self important bollox they call being astute is breathtaking in its lack of anything actually making sense.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 468 - Metallica Vs. U2 and Pepper Keenan
Q: What was it like getting that phone call to audition to play bass for Metallica?
Pepper Keenan describes being in close contact with James Hetfield and the band, the multiple names considered, and ultimately recognizing it would be a huge, high-pressure moment; he notes he would have jumped on any opportunity but that the logistics and expectations were immense.
Episode 466 - Reload, Rehearse, Request, pt. 1 (Reload Boxset)
Q: How hard is it for you to see the potential in a riff or an instrumental demo, and do you try to imagine the finished product before going into the studio?
The host explains that while initial riffs can seem mediocre, the final arrangement often emerges through iterative listening, collaboration, and the expansive resources of a big band; perception can change dramatically once the right structure and instrumentation are in place.
Episode 460 - The Outlaw of Torn?
Q: Is it The Outlaw Torn or The Outlaw of Torn?
Hetfield states he doesn't recall definitively which form is correct, and the conversation frames the ambiguity as part of the song's enduring mystery.
Episode 458 - Metallica TV (pt. 1)
Q: What motivated you to do a watch-along episode with Metallica TV?
I wanted to give listeners a communal, interactive way to experience the material together, almost like hanging out with friends in the 90s, and to explore how the band's visuals and performances age over time.
Episode 455 - A Year in the Life of Metallica (2012)
Q: What's your big takeaway from the Orion era and the move to Blackened Recordings?
The era shows that creative risk must be balanced with practicalities; ownership and independence can redefine a band's trajectory and capabilities for storytelling and revenue.
