  • Informative and interesting

The great Terry Hall once sang “fashion is my only culture” As a working class modernist, casual, this podcast is essential listening to any one with an interest in menswear. Great interviews, interesting guests and a female perspective on all things clobber!

  • Great Perspectives and Guests

Love the diverse perspectives, breadth of guests, and depth of knowledge. So much to dive into. Menswear can feel stale if you stay in one or two little bubbles, so I love the podcast’s approach to the familiar from different angles. Bonus points for an interviewer that gives the guests space to speak rather than cutting them off or talking over them!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EP262: Fashion Education: The Reality After Graduation ft Christoph Ritter
Q: What do you wish you had known as a student about the costs and career prospects?
He emphasizes the high tuition, the burden of debt, the actual odds of getting a job in London, and the mismatch between what schools teach and what the industry needs, along with the questionable value of scholarships for show access.
EP262: Fashion Education: The Reality After Graduation ft Christoph Ritter
Q: How did it all begin for you in terms of education and pursuing fashion?
Christoph shares his path through foundation at Central Saint Martins, his later master's work, and the tension between chasing a dream and facing its realities, including the financial and practical hurdles.
EP259: Are We Already Living in the Future of Menswear? ft Nick Tidball, Co-Founder of Vollebak
Q: How long did the Sonic Jacket take to develop, and what was the process like?
The Sonic Jacket began as an idea on paper for about 18 months before being developed with a specialized effects partner; progress was balanced against business realities, and the team iterated extensively with a dedicated project lead until the final concept could be realized.
EP259: Are We Already Living in the Future of Menswear? ft Nick Tidball, Co-Founder of Vollebak
Q: Which one was the hardest development of the garments with Vollebak?
The indestructible puffer was the most challenging because working with Dyneema at the time was mostly used for ships; moving it into a wearable jacket required solving needle-breakage issues and redefining durability vs. weight.
EP257: Editor-in-Chief, of French Icon Magazine ft. James Sleaford
Q: What are your thoughts on AI in fashion publishing?
AI should be treated as a tool with boundaries; it can enhance visualization and productivity, but authentic storytelling, human craft, and emotional connection remain central to publishing.
