  • New to Portraits

Just recently got connected with a friend that is a big time portrait photographer here in the states and he has started teaching me what he knows so I can work that into my photography. I recently stumbled upon this podcast and have been binge listening and love it so much I have ordered the book too. Some of the things I have struggled through you have mentioned struggling with too in the podcasts I have heard. I recommend this to anyone getting into photography or portrait work.

  • Informative and hugely entertaining. Just excellent!

I love this podcast. I have been into photography for many years but more recently have decided to take portrait photography much more seriously in the hope that I may be able to shoot professionally one day. This podcast is amazing, not just focussing on the technical aspects of portrait photography but also full of great advice on how to get the best out of your subject and yourself. There are also some great tips on running a photography business from one of the best in the country. Paul has ... more

  • Sheer brilliance!

Paul your podcast ticks all the boxes for me.

You have stories, I love your stories, you have advice about kit, techniques and business.

You have great guests who have been up to their armpits in muck and bulllets and know what they are talking about either as photographers or business people from other sectors.

There is so much fun but when it is time to be serious you have that as well.

My dog walks have never been so enjoyable.

Keep doing what you are doing.

EP167 The New Book Is Out!
Q: How did you go about choosing those pictures?
It was a long process of finding pictures that I would want to include in the updated edition, ensuring they fit the previous layout and met our evolving vision.
EP167 The New Book Is Out!
Q: Did you think the second edition would happen?
No, not really; we assumed the first edition would be the end of it, but we were contacted to refresh it due to its success.
EP164 Inside Graphistudio: Heirlooms, AI, And The Future Of Photography — With Mauricio Arias
Q: What's the best advice you can give to a photographer about convincing their client that their images should be in some form of physical product?
From a marketing point of view, it's about value propositions and exposure. Physically exposing clients to products helps them understand their value.
EP149 Your First Strobe | Use What You Love, Love What You Use
Q: What strobe light would you recommend for someone on a limited budget?
The Godox AD200 is very good, a little bit fiddly, but they are exceptionally good for what they do.
EP149 Your First Strobe | Use What You Love, Love What You Use
Q: If you could change just one thing about this beautiful industry of ours, what would it be?
I'd probably make it a bit easier for us to understand how product is flowing through from the developers to the end user.
