Excellent, entertaining, & good history. Mostly true. Good intent. A few details get a bit into conspiracy theory vs fact so listen carefully & move forward bearing in mind, opinion & agenda affects us all. No one is immune. Considering that, I believe this is a genuinely good podcast. I find it would be better with all sides of the coin examined to prevent slant but overall, most of what they say, sadly, is true.
They do some great investigative journalism here, uncovering aspects of a story we thought we knew all about, only to realize there was so much more going on. Where they lose me is in trying to be funny and hip with pop culture references and jokes, i.e. comparing situations to Always Sunny In Philadelphia or The Simpsons. John Oliver and Jon Stewart already do a good job of making news informative and funny. Trying to be them and falling so short is cringe.

Love this podcast truly. I’d have given it a 5 stars if the author didn’t make the king comments and leave out women in episode 1 of season 2. Episode 3 season one was a game changer for me. The Powell memo is outrageous. Women must be given control to fix this. Your turn is done guys. We won’t live under men’s rule like this. Hand it over! Lovingly.
I’ve spent a lot of time listening to podcasts lately —trying to make sense of what’s happened in the US in the past year. This is by far the most informative series out there. I lived through all the historical events covered by the show but was never able to connect all the dots. This show does that and more. As far is the news clips and jokes—they are a necessity. If you don’t laugh —you’d have to cry.
I’m 60 and I lived through Regan’s corruption!! Bill Barr is known as Regan’s cover up king. North was a card carrying CRIMINAL!!

A hard-hitting, deeply researched series that traces the rise of centralized presidential power in the U.S., from Nixon through modern times. Episodes synthesize archival reporting, expert commentary, and bold narrative storytelling to show how a small circle of power brokers shaped policy, law, and governance—often at the expense of checks and balances. Notable through-lines include the unitary executive theory, War Powers debates, and the interplay between Congress, the judiciary, and the presidency. A standout element is the consistent focus on long-running strategic narratives—“kingmakers” guiding power over decades—paired with rigorous sourcing and a clear investigative lens that appeals to listeners who crave historical context for co... more
