在中国北方广袤的森林与草原上，生活着一位低调的“北境之王”——猞猁。它虽在藏族传说中是雪豹与兔狲的兄弟，却长期隐身于两位“网红”兄弟的光环之外。
猞猁是中国体型最大的“小猫”，耳朵上竖着像天线一样的簇毛，短尾巴，大长腿，能在雪地无声潜行。这个体重仅约20公斤的捕食者，竟能猎杀重达90公斤的驯鹿。从东北林海到青藏高原，它是分布最广的中国野生猫科动物之一，却依然神秘。

“我看到兔狲了！”——对讲机里突然传来的这句话，让整个野外工作组瞬间炸锅。时隔一年，我们终于又在张掖见到了野生兔狲的身影。
在荒漠深处，兔狲的踪迹正变得越来越难以捉摸：在“兔狲老家”，22年的可识别个体还有12只，23年剩下6只，到了24年——它们几乎消失了。
是风电建设的影响？气候变化的威胁？还是灭鼠行动的打击？在这期节目中，长期监测兔狲种群的一线保护工作者心悦和姗姗，将带我们深入张掖荒漠，探讨兔狲面临的生存危机，和猫盟的保护策略。
