Mall Brats is an RPG podcast that’s like if Gangs of New York was a Saturday morning cartoon set in a magical 1980s mega mall. Countless kid gangs make their living in the mall pulling off schemes, selling candy, and causing trouble under the watchful eye of the mysterious Food Court. Super show. Smooth play to improv creativity. Hilarious characters, keep going Mall Brats!
I love this so much and I can’t wait for more episodes.
I started listening with my kids day 1. They’re both under ten and don’t get all the adult jokes, but they laugh so hard at how silly the characters are. The only unfortunate side effect is they’re both excited for their periods now… thanks mall brats.
If like me you don't care about RPGs, the Spout Lore/Mall Brats crew know how to put out a solid comedy-first Actual Play. Even the lowest stakes jobs are immediately complicated as players lean into bad decisions that deliver on humor while lowering their odds of success. Yet the failures only work to make the show better. There are also some dice rolls and rules in there but not enough to get in the way.
