  • If you like Video Archives Podcast you’ll love this!

Great show randomly picking and then talking about the films Tarantino loves. It’s got the greats that everyone knows like Halloween and Scarface plus lots of great smaller movies you may not have seen. The guys discuss the movies in their laid back and well informed style. Love it!

  • These guys are great! If you're a fan of Tarantino. prepare to spend many, many hours listening to Phillip and Chip review the movies that inspired Tarantino himself. Even the most devout Tarantino fans will be captivated by Phillip's impressively vast knowledge of not only modern film as an art form, but especially Tarantino's unique body of work. I dare you to pose a question he can't answer! In addition, Chip and Phillip are a couple of really nice, funny, genuine guys, and that comes across ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Hellgate (1952) with Fred Schaefer
Q: In this movie, did you see anything that you think Tarantino might have liked or used in a film?
The setting in a claustrophobic, underground prison and the intense, character-driven plot mechanics echo Tarantino's penchant for staging confined environments with moral ambiguity; the scene construction around tension and unexpected reversals would have appealed to him.
My Bloody Valentine (1981) with Shon Wheeler
Q: Exactly. So in this movie, did you see anything that you think Tarantino might have liked or used in a film?
The guest notes the slow, breathing buildup and the way the film lets moments breathe, suggesting a Tarantino-friendly approach to suspense and character, but ultimately says there aren't many direct plot borrowings—more a shared ethos of pacing and tension. He highlights the poem-like, clue-driven texture of violence as a possible influence for Death Proof-style storytelling.
An Interview with Sam Firstenberg
Q: What got you into directing in the first place?
Sam Firstenberg explains that he was enamored with cinema from a young age, often watching Hollywood blockbusters and dreaming of directing as a means to tell visual stories.
An Interview with Jennifer Ashley (The Pom Pom Girls, Towing, etc.)
Q: What are some of your favorite movies?
Jennifer lists 'Annie Hall' among her favorites and discusses her experiences with influential directors.
An Interview with Jennifer Ashley (The Pom Pom Girls, Towing, etc.)
Q: Did you have fun doing Ashley's Closet?
Jennifer mentions she did it for 20 years and enjoyed the process, especially with various celebrities appearing on the show.
