  • Disappointed

    Just a bunch of men talking about how smart they are and their experiences where of course they are always the smartest in the room. As a data practitioner myself I did not find anything useful, nothing that resonated with me or that made me think differently. Not good enough for many buzzwords the throw there.

The Rapidly Evolving World of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)
Q: How do you define AGI, and what elements constitute its progress?
AGI is progress across cognitive abilities with minimal task-specific training; a five-level framework from emerging to ASI helps map current capabilities, with level one emerging AGI representing near-term reality and ongoing improvements toward higher levels.
The Rapidly Evolving World of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)
Q: Where do you think the real AI battlegrounds are right now?
The battleground is shifting from model novelty to practical, scalable deployment, with a focus on the stage of AGI versus ASI, and how to control and align rapidly advancing systems while managing economic and regulatory pressures.
Chief Operating Officer of IBM Infrastructure, Barry Baker, oversees the world’s most critical systems – including the iconic IBM Z.
Q: Introduce yourself, tell us a little bit about where you came from, how you ended up in the position you're in, and what training you had.
Barry describes a 26-year trajectory starting as a software engineer on IBM Z, moving into product management and leadership, a stint in marketing, and ultimately taking on a COO role overseeing multiple hardware and software units and driving infrastructure strategy.
Still Essential: Ruchir Puri on AGI, Jensen Huang's Bold Prediction, and Why Reasoning Is the Missing Piece {Replay}
Q: How far are we from AGI and what is your prediction on its timeline?
Progress on IQ is advancing, but true general intelligence involving EQ and RQ will take longer; the estimate sits around a few years for broad capabilities, with more rapid improvements in specific domains rather than a sudden breakthrough to AGI.
