  • Good show and great hosts!

First off I’ve been listening to you guys for almost since the beginning and I’m not even a plumber or in HVAC. The info, updates in the trades and general stories and laughs have me coming back every week. I can relate as I’m in general carpentry and construction. You guys have great camaraderie and keep me wanting to listen. Cheers!

Foreman Woes - Listener Mail
Q: How are people dealing with these troubles?
The hosts suggest documentation of issues and improvements for accountability, communication with management, and training for the inexperienced crew.
Technically it’s Illegal: What Would You Do?
Q: Would you replace it with a tank water heater?
No, I'm not replacing it with another power vent water heater because it is not efficient and not the right appliance for space heating; I'd recommend a boiler instead.
Technically it’s Illegal: What Would You Do?
Q: As is, not requested to replace it, would you do all the fix that needs to get this thing going?
Yes, because they need to have this system functioning for the winter, but also we need to acknowledge to the homeowner that it needs a lot of attention and isn't the right appliance for their heating system.
Adapting to Rising Material Costs in the Trades
Q: How have you been handling it?
I would write a letter to the customer and explain the situation about the price increases due to current economic conditions.
Risk Profit Over Experience
Q: How do you keep expanding your skills as a business owner without it ever being at the customer's expense?
It's challenging, and sometimes you have to make decisions that may impact the customer, but communication and ensuring the customer understands the potential challenges is key.
