  • Harvard ignorance

No, university was not the obsession of the right and the left, it was the obsession of the left. They saw doctors and lawyers making money and they assumed university was the link. So they shut down trade schools and forced their kids to study gender, art and media; and then wondered why they still underperformed.

    Extraordinary these blokes have jobs.

Meanwhile, those who do study trades in this century are making millions.

  • Shameful softball interview with Lavorgna

Read the transcript of this interview — OMG — he thinks Trump is now is more knowledgeable! And the other insane statements. And you let the insanity just stand. Not worthy of you, as this is usually a good and thoughtful podcast.

  • Episode 234 Waste of time!!

I would not waste my time on this episode!! The guest is utterly politically biased, hindering his open-mindedness and critical thinking.

The guest holds a strong bias toward a political ideology. —The conversation is a complete echo chamber where his political bias leads him to misinterpretation or selective use of facts, contributing to polarization and misunderstanding in discussions.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 359: Dylan Smith on the Hormuz Supply Shock, US Macro Regimes, and Private Market Evolution
Q: How do you conceptualize the Strait of Hormuz shock in your regime framework, and what does it imply for policy and markets?
The shock is integrated into scenario planning rather than a single forecast; it shifts probabilities toward a stagflationary outlook depending on how quickly the Strait reopens and how the resulting supply disruptions feed into core inflation and growth.
Ep. 359: Dylan Smith on the Hormuz Supply Shock, US Macro Regimes, and Private Market Evolution
Q: So can you talk about, you know, what regime we've been in coming into this year, and what regime we're in currently?
We have been in a sluggish regime where inflation is under control and financial conditions are easy, but growth has been below potential; the regime is unusual in that the combination has persisted longer than typical transitional phases, influenced by policy and external shocks.
Ep. 358: Shawn Edwards on Engineering Trust in AI, The Bloomberg Way, and the Terminal's Future
Q: What is ASPE and how does it change how analysts interact with the terminal?
ASPE provides a conversational interface to access Bloomberg's data and analytics, starting with key workflows like equity analysis, and it integrates with other datasets and tools to enable more efficient, non-programmer-friendly analytics.
Ep. 358: Shawn Edwards on Engineering Trust in AI, The Bloomberg Way, and the Terminal's Future
Q: How does Bloomberg differentiate itself from fintech vendors claiming to have comprehensive data for equities and sentiment analysis?
Bloomberg emphasizes its comprehensive, integrated data ecosystem, including both structured and unstructured data, extensive validation, and a strong governance framework, which reduces reliance on disparate feeds and ensures trust.
Ep. 357: Andrew Perry on the Five Pillars of Global Macro, Liquidity, and Australia's Macro Risks
Q: Can you list the five pillars of Macro Pillars and explain briefly why they matter?
Pillar one covers geopolitics and the strategic direction of major policy makers; pillar two focuses on non-traditional liquidity and funding dynamics; pillar three returns to traditional considerations like yield curves and monetary/fiscal policy; pillar four uses price action as a checkpoint; pillar five leverages data-driven signals and critical dates to manage risk and validate the framework.
