  • Belonging

As a mother of a son with Down Syndrome, this podcast of belonging in our Christian community hits close to home. Dr. Kenny was raw and real and gave me language and understanding from a perspective I will never fully understand - my son’s perspective. It was helpful to hear as part of our journey of belonging.

  • Soooooo good!

I can’t even remember how I accidentally found this podcast but I’m SO thankful that I did!! I started with the episode about crt and I could have wept while listening just because I loved how the focus was on peacemaking while also objectively looking at truth (as opposed to passionate ranting, polarization etc). I can’t wait to listen to more episodes - I’ve already shared this one with about 15 people!!

Q: So could we just zoom in on that for a minute? Where does that blueprint come from and why is that problematic?
The blueprint for family from a biblical perspective is often misconstrued as endorsing a patriarchal structure that doesn't fully capture the diversity of family forms presented in scripture.
The Myth of the Perfect Family—and the Truth of Love with Emily Hunter McGowin, PhD
Q: So could you just start there? What's the ideal and why is that problematic?
The ideal often comes from television and films depicting a middle class, able-bodied family, which is limited and increasingly unattainable.
Reimagining Family Life with Autism with Adrian Wood, PhD
Q: Have you done anything intentional to cultivate trust within the school system?
I have been intentional in building relationships with educators, expressing gratitude, and modeling vulnerability to facilitate teamwork for Amos's support.
