What’s the deal with Formula 1 racing? Is it just a bunch of European adrenaline junkies with a death wish? And how does it differ from something like the American-based NASCAR or IndyCar series? In reality, there’s way more to it. F1 combines some o... more
From Simone Biles’ brush with the twisties to Rick Ankiel’s experience of the yips, the constellation of phenomena known as the yips–and the stories of the athletes who experience it–are some of the strangest in the world of sports. Far more common, ... more
Losing Control is a podcast about the yips. But this episode isn’t about the yips. It’s about two of the tools athletes and elite performers utilize to maintain a healthy mind: meditation and humor. Dr. Amishi Jha studies meditation and its impact on... more
Former starting quarterback Joel Stave led the Wisconsin Badgers for 31 wins between 2012 and 2015, and to this day, Stave remains the Badgers’ all-time winningest quarterback. But success isn’t only about the wins or the completed passes, and in one... more
Focus on what you can control. It’s a phrase you’ve heard more than once if you’ve been listening to this podcast, and it typically refers to reorienting your perspective or ideas of success from the external to the internal: from elements outside of... more
Performance anxiety and the yips are not the same thing, and feeling unable to perform or compete before a big event is far more common than actually being unable to perform or compete due to the yips. But these ailments share more than a few similar... more

I am a ten year old kid, and this I really think is going to help me play soccer, basketball, archery and help me test for my next martial arts belt. Really helpful
My daughter has TENNIS Aspirations! And thissss is what I was needing to help her!
If they covered Dartitis then I would give this five stars. Dartitis is a clinically diagnosable psychological disorder faced by professional dart players. The series is ESPN so it's very well produced and very entertaining; but I'm a hobbyist dart player and I feel that Dartitis is a glaring omission.
This show provides such an astute and comprehensive look into one of the most fascinating and under-covered topics in sports. I’m so impressed with the level of thought and care that clearly went into the writing, structuring, and sourcing of guest voices. I especially love the conceit of relating the mental struggles faced by elite athletes to the mental struggles we all face. Such a fantastic direction for SI to be going.
Loss of motor skills in musicians is also the yips. I am especially grateful for episode 5 and 6. Thank you for exploring other activities where focal dystonia/yips appears. There are many opinions on what musicians focal dystonia is and how to treat it. This discussion would also be interesting to athletes. Please continue to delve into this subject. I’ve had fd in my right hand for over 10 years in classical guitar. I believe it is neurological in origin, but it snowballs as an emotional prob... more
Been listening since #1 and this has gotta be one of the coolest and most well done shows I’ve heard in awhile
Very informative and also entertaining.

When Justin announced this podcast on his Increase your Impact podcast I could get here fast enough. We all have our struggles. These principles can help anyone who wants to help themselves improve - cause isn’t that what we are all trying to do? Thanks Justin for teaching us how to overcome. Anyone can do it!!
Love Laura Beal. You can ALWAYS count on her for a quality podcast. Here’s another one!!
Been a big fan of Increase Your Impact so when Justin announced a partnership with Sports Illustrated I got pretty excited. The first episode didn’t disappoint!
Well produced! Excellent sound quality! Above all else, the message, interviews, and story was clear and easily applicable. I am super excited about this series!!
Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to hearing more.
