  • Great Daily Listen for O’s Fans!

This is a daily listen for me, whether I watched the game the night before or not. Connor is knowledgable about the current MLB team, what’s going on in the minors, and is also great at explaining some of the crazy rules and considerations that go into roster moves, etc. Highly recommended for O’s fans, and all the Locked On shows are great if you somehow like a team that isn’t the O’s.

Started listening after the O’s 2023 season because I lived in Baltimore and was curious. Now, it’s the first podcast I look for in the morning. Connor’s delivery, story telling ability, and perspective are exceptional. Keep it up man

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Orioles News & Notes: Chayce McDermott, Cameron Foster, Parker Messick
Q: What did Cameron Foster show in his debut?
Foster looked impressive in relief, sitting in the mid-90s with good ride on his four-seam and showing quality breaking balls, suggesting he could be a valuable long-term depth piece in the Orioles bullpen.
Orioles News & Notes: Chayce McDermott, Cameron Foster, Parker Messick
Q: What stood out about Parker Messick's outing?
Messick delivered a masterful performance, overpowering the Orioles with a dominant changeup and fastball command, effectively stymying their righty-heavy lineup and pushing the game toward a late-inning blowout before the bullpen relief altered the course.
Orioles Mailbag: Tyler O'Neill's role, Trevor Rogers' turnaround, ABS thoughts
Q: For the Orioles to make the playoffs, what benchmarks and players need to perform better?
Requiring strong innings from Adley Rutschman at the plate, consistent starts from Kramer and Bassitt, a breakout from Baas, and offensive and defensive contributions from infield and outfield depth, with Gunnar Henderson and top prospects contributing offensively to support a high-win total (around 90+ wins).
Orioles Mailbag: Tyler O'Neill's role, Trevor Rogers' turnaround, ABS thoughts
Q: Will Carter Baumler's performance with the Rangers this season impact how Mike Elias views moving relief pitching prospects through the Orioles system quicker?
Baumler's case shows the O's may benefit from converting more starting pitching prospects into bullpen arms, especially given the current depth; the organization could accelerate relief development by moving suitable starters to bullpen roles in the near term.
Orioles Mailbag: Tyler O'Neill's role, Trevor Rogers' turnaround, ABS thoughts
Q: How worried should we be about Tyler O'Neill, and what is his role if he continues to struggle or isn't hitting or fielding well?
O'Neill's health and platoon viability are key; with his history of injuries he may operate best as a durable bench bat who can platoon in DH and right field against lefties, potentially reducing the days he needs to play every day while still contributing with defense and power.
