  • Squad show is bad

Jake and James are the best. Squad show is a podcast version of 50 year olds on Facebook who have no idea what is going on, complain about everything, and provide absolute zero value. Rather listen to nails on chalkboard.

  • Don’t mess w a good thing

Jake and James do a great job! However the new “Bengals squad” shows are hot garbage. Overreactions and stupid hot takes. Please put those in a separate feed so I don’t have to unfollow Locked on Bengals, please!

  • New Squad

This is tough. Jake and James are 5* all day every day. The new Bengals Squad episodes are unlistenable. I go on 90-120 minute dog walks every day and consume most Bengals content I can find, but this is ooooh. Nowhere near the standard set by James and Jake. I feel so bad for Jake and Mike Santagana being involved in this new venture. I love the concept of long format, but the host is unprepared, rambling and repetitive. Art is mailing it in, clearly has no knowledge of the issues of the Bengal... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Inside the Dexter Lawrence Trade: Bengals Assistant GM Opens Up About Defensive Overhaul
Q: What made this the year that the aggressive move really came together and led to trading a top 10 asset for Dexter Lawrence?
The decision was driven by a combination of long-term roster strategy, consensus across ownership and personnel staff, and a belief that Lawrence would provide a rare, interior impact that fit Cincinnati's defensive vision. The team had anticipated the possibility and worked through multiple scenarios, with everything finally aligning as the trade details and physicals came together.
CAP CRUNCH?! Bengals Facing MAJOR Contract Decisions, Including Joe Burrow Restructure
Q: Have you approached Joe Burrow about a restructure?
The hosts discuss that discussions are ongoing post-draft as they weigh cap flexibility, with Tobin noting it's a layered challenge but potentially feasible if it frees up space for the roster.
BENGALS SQUAD SHOW: Plotting the PLAN and FUTURE for Dax Hill and Bengals SECONDARY
Q: Do you view wide receiver as a need going into the NFL draft?
The hosts acknowledge it is not a pressing need given Chase and Higgins, but they see a genuine underlying need for a reliable third option who can contribute in the slot or as a possession receiver to relieve the top two and extend drives.
BENGALS SQUAD SHOW: Dexter Lawrence and SENDING A MESSAGE to start CALIFORNIA (LOMBARDI) DREAMING!
Q: What was the immediate reaction to the Dexter Lawrence trade?
A mix of astonishment and excitement, with agreement that the move significantly strengthens the defense and signals a bold, window-leaning strategy for the next few seasons.
DEEP DIVE into Top Safety NFL Draft Options: Caleb Downs or BUST at 10?
Q: Is there a world where Dillon Thieneman makes sense at 10?
Thieneman is a strong, safe prospect with high upside and a lot of boxes checked, but Downs is generally ranked ahead for many teams; the choice depends on how the Bengals layer nickel and box roles.
