  • Squad show is bad

Jake and James are the best. Squad show is a podcast version of 50 year olds on Facebook who have no idea what is going on, complain about everything, and provide absolute zero value. Rather listen to nails on chalkboard.

  • Don’t mess w a good thing

Jake and James do a great job! However the new “Bengals squad” shows are hot garbage. Overreactions and stupid hot takes. Please put those in a separate feed so I don’t have to unfollow Locked on Bengals, please!

  • New Squad

This is tough. Jake and James are 5* all day every day. The new Bengals Squad episodes are unlistenable. I go on 90-120 minute dog walks every day and consume most Bengals content I can find, but this is ooooh. Nowhere near the standard set by James and Jake. I feel so bad for Jake and Mike Santagana being involved in this new venture. I love the concept of long format, but the host is unprepared, rambling and repetitive. Art is mailing it in, clearly has no knowledge of the issues of the Bengal... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Mike Renner Talks Bengals 1st Round Targets, LB & IOL depth, and 2026 Draft Sleepers
Q: Do you see cases for any of those guys to be gone in the top 10?
Renner discusses the chances of players like Sonny Styles, Caleb Downs, and Reuben Bain going earlier than 10, emphasizing how teams' needs and draft trends could push some of these players up the board.
Mike Renner Talks Bengals 1st Round Targets, LB & IOL depth, and 2026 Draft Sleepers
Q: But Mike, I want to get started with handicapping essentially the top 10, the top nine, try to figure out who is potentially in play for the Bengals at pick number 10.
Renner walks through several top prospects who could land in the top 10, weighing positional value, arm length, and team fits, and identifies a mix of corners, safeties, and defensive linemen likely to come off the board before Cincinnati picks.
Bengals TIGHT END Targets: Best Do-It-All TE Fits in a DEEP 2026 Draft Class
Q: What is the Bengals' real need at tight end this year and how does the draft class address it?
The hosts agree that Cincinnati needs a do-it-all tight end who can handle inline blocking and contribute as a receiver, to balance their run-pass options and account for the team's play-action and drop-back passing. They discuss that Day 2 prospects like Raridon and Delp offer a combination of size, athleticism, and blocking ability, while Day 3 possibilities could give depth and immediate depth-chart impact.
Expectation Setting For Jonathan Allen: How Much Juice Will he Bring Bengals Pass Rush?
Q: What are your thoughts on the two-year deal for Jonathan Allen and how it fits the Bengals' defense?
The deal seems fair, offering a practical mix of starter duties and price efficiency. Allen's versatility allows him to fill multiple roles, which should help stabilize the front seven even if he isn't the same dominant pass rusher he once was.
BENGALS SQUAD SHOW: Is Jonathan Allen the Bengals Big Free Agency Swing?
Q: How does the camp chatter about linebackers affect expectations for the defense this season?
There is significant frustration about inactivity at linebacker, with questions about whether the Bengals will draft and develop linebtackers or pursue veteran help, potentially delaying the defense's fully realized potential.
