  • Back to one Steph.

First episode I listened too was Patti, who said its a Calling. BLOW Gabriel BLOW! My spirit totally received that term.

Next was Ten Times Perfect with Back to One Steph. That gave my work ethic a direction and refocused my tenacity. I return to this episode once a month.

Thanks for helping save an artist! We will take one day 🤩 💗

  • Good, Involving Conversations

The host occasionally gushes a little too much for me, but otherwise this podcast has been a real find. It’s a treasure trove of respected theater artists that you always wanted to hear more from, but might not have been famous enough for them to land a spot on a late night talk show. To Ms. Levine’s credit, she REALLY lets the more complex answers spool out, and doesn’t feel the need to jump in and interrupt them. It also helps that she’s in the biz.

  • Great Podcast

Really love this podcast! Loved the episode with Edie Falco ! I love when Edie said she probably wasn’t supposed to say acting school took away her confidence and Ilana said no someone is listening and thinking that’s me! Well that person IS me! I was very encouraged to hear what Edie said about how learning the intellectual side of acting made things less clear because that’s how I feel too. The more I study the intellectual side of acting the more confusing I find it and it makes me feel like... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 499 - Ryan Spahn
Q: How has writing influenced your career alongside acting, and what does your daily writing discipline look like?
Writing has become a crucial companion to acting; I write with a partner and sometimes solo, with mornings being my peak productivity time; we schedule work hours and push through difficult periods, using writing as a way to channel emotion and keep creativity alive.
Episode 499 - Ryan Spahn
Q: What was the decision-making path that led you to Juilliard, and how did your partner Michael influence that choice?
I had considered many schools but felt Juilliard could change the trajectory; Michael filled out the application and encouraged me to pursue it after hearing how it changed his life, even helping with the process to access the application.
Episode 499 - Ryan Spahn
Q: Can you indulge me and go back in time with me to your own beginnings as a creative person and the influences and where you grew up and who was in the house with you and where this impulse to tell stories in all sorts of ways was born?
I grew up in Delaware, moved to Detroit, came from a broken home, and found imagination as a refuge; school and boarding school played pivotal roles, and early influence came from Kenneth Lonergan and Greg Rocky with a growing interest in screenwriting that pushed me toward LA and eventually to Juilliard.
Episode 495 - Arianna Davis
Q: How did you navigate the complexities of being on a show filmed in a mockumentary style?
I was initially not given too much guidance because they assumed I had experience. I played it cool and learned through observation and collaboration with cast mates and the crew. I also researched set terminology to help me feel more confident.
Episode 495 - Arianna Davis
Q: How do you learn about narcolepsy? Do you talk to people who have it?
I have two friends with narcolepsy, and I talked with them to understand their experiences. I made sure to research the condition widely since there are different types of narcolepsy and varying symptoms.
