This podcast is ADDICTIVE. Cameron Reilly and Ray Harris somehow manage to make 2,000-year-old history feel like it just happened last week. The Romans were absolute characters — some brilliant, some insane, most a mix of both — and the way these guys tell their stories is hilarious and eye-opening at the same time. They keep you hooked and wanting more.
When I first discovered the podcast (about a year ago), I went in thinking I’d learn a little about Julius Caesar, but what I got was this wil... more
I listened for 10 minutes and you still haven’t talked about any history. Just explained the podcast. We know what a podcast is guys. Stop laughing and talk about history already!!!
I started listening as a result of being in a Caesars class in grad school. Reading Suetonius and such piqued my curiosity to know more. While these guys are great on their Roman history, and I do love that part, they pretty much get it wrong every time they step out of bounds. The language and crass jokes about sex, their wives, and male anatomy make them sound like what I think of when others use words like immature, white, privileged, and toxic…. It detracts from any real learning and brin... more
I have listened to various iterations of Cam’s podcasts since the Napoleon days and his preparation for each episode never fails to impress. It is because of the preparation done for each episode that these two can have a seemingly casual conversation that is so info packed. Highly recommended.
So many years of listening to this podcast for it to end. :( I seriously funny, enlightening podcast by a free thinker and Ray. Unashamedly brutally honest, seems a very down to earth, realistic point of view that often disagrees with the popular opinion. I could go on. But with the British stiff I Upper lip. I shall have to start from the beginning. And subscribe to Ray and Cams other shows.
