Adam is a superb writer, whose three books should be a part of any bridge players library. He is a patient and thoughtful teacher who earns respect without ever suggesting he deserves it. I am so excited to have this podcast as a resource as I also attempt to Level Up.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Alan Shillitoe
Q: What do you think about the idea of the 10,000 hour rule?
While the idea of progressive practice is relevant, in bridge the talent base is so small it's not a fitting standard.
Alan Shillitoe
Q: What would that look like? Like what would differentiate a good bridge book aimed at the tween market?
It should have engaging presentations that trigger imagination and practical usability, rather than dense text.
Joel Wooldridge
Q: What advice would you give someone looking to improve their game?
Think about Bridge in as many angles as you can, focusing on strategy and psychology while analyzing your plays.
Joel Wooldridge
Q: What do you think contributed to just continually getting better?
Reading Bridge articles and analyzing games were key, along with consistently visualizing hands and playing after each hand.
Joel Wooldridge
Q: How did you learn Bridge?
I learned Bridge through my parents, both long-term players, from a young age and immediately enjoyed the game.
