  • Wonderful understated podcast

I was directed to this podcast from another CS Lewis podcast, and it is a great discovery. The host spring great Biblical and spiritual knowledge. And a humble. Christian approach grounded in a thoughtful and authentic search for truth. I also very much appreciate their perspectives, as I am an Anglican who grew up in Canada but who is live in England now for many years. Keep up the good work!

  • Sheer Delight

It is a sheer delight to listen to Jordan and Sean (and the occasional guest) discuss the essays, addresses, and sermons of C.S. Lewis. They are wise and winsome, humorous and humble with their commentary. Their friendship and camaraderie model the kind of relationship Lewis engaged in with his own “Inklings” group. Listen to their podcast often, it will do you good and surprise you with joy over and over again!

  • Explore the wide ranging Lewis

This podcast deserves a much larger audience. Listen to a few episodes and you’ll understand why Lewis is considered one of the leading intellectuals of the 20th Century. The hosts explore the less popular essays and books of Lewis in a way that is accessible to folks who have an interest in Lewis but not a strong background knowledge. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S5E15 - Between Interpretation and Imagination - "Fern Seed & Elephants" AKA "Modern Theology and Biblical Criticism" with Dr. Leslie Baynes
Q: What prompted you to study Part 1 of the book, the examination of Lewis's use of scripture across his works?
Baynes explains that her motivation came from discovering how little attention Lewis's biblical engagement had received and wanting to situate his Bible-related writings within broader scholarly and biographical contexts, showing how his approach evolved from margins to a more comprehensive study.
S5E12 - Interview with the Dinosaur - "Cross-Examination" (Part 1)
Q: Is the use of filth and obscenity necessary to establish a realistic atmosphere in contemporary literature?
No; obscenity is not required and can signal moral decline when used to pose realism; the point is that artists should not equate moral degradation with authenticity.
S5E12 - Interview with the Dinosaur - "Cross-Examination" (Part 1)
Q: Is modern culture being de-Christianized, and what about the church itself?
He suggests culture may be de-Christianizing in practice, and points to liberal preachers and accommodation within the church as signs of this trend, while noting not all of Christianity is affected.
S5E12 - Interview with the Dinosaur - "Cross-Examination" (Part 1)
Q: Can you suggest an approach that would spark a body of Christian literature strong enough to influence our generation?
Lewis responds that there is no universal formula; inspiration comes from the Holy Spirit, and variety in biblical examples shows that different approaches can be effective depending on context.
S5E9 - Why C. S. Lewis Would Hate Hillsong & Sing it Anyway - "On Church Music" & Other Essays
Q: What are your thoughts on whether lowbrow church music can be spiritually significant?
Lewis questions the spiritual value of lowbrow music, suggesting it lacks the quality to glorify God or edify the congregation.
