Reviews

4.8 out of 5 stars from 29.7k ratings
  • This is an intelligent and critically thought-out piece. The hosts work well together, and the material is generally understandable to laymen without feeling overly simplified. That said, some of the deeper cuts involving specific authors and academic's peculiarities could be explained a bit more for listeners who may not already know the background.

  • Love both Klavans!

Even if it winds up behind the paywall, you MUST keep going with the Klavans on Culture. I’m not in a place to justify signing up for Daily Wire, but if I were, this alone would be worth it (and the regular Klavan show is pretty darn good too).

  • What?

I only listen on Friday, because I just don’t care at all about the other things you talk about. Yeah, I know… we “have to understand culture” but that’s foolish. We can see that around us, and that’s why we stopped watching television and train our family in the way they should go.

Sure, some people need to hear it, so I’m not against that totally. You do you.

However, your recent trashing of folks like Tucker and Candace (among others) is getting old. Once, that’s fine. Every week, that’s ... more

That a ship saved all the species? That to me is a disappointing viewpoint.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Questions That Religion Answers But Science Cannot w/ Carl Trueman
Q: How does Nietzsche's 'hour of the madman' fit into your argument?
Nietzsche's hour of the madman shows that declaring God dead creates a burden of self-meaning; people must invent festivals of atonement and assume responsibility for creation of meaning.
The Questions That Religion Answers But Science Cannot w/ Carl Trueman
Q: What do you mean by the desecration of man?
Desacration is about the active dismantling of what it means to be human, rejecting the image of God, and using freedom as a license to redefine humanity in ways that erase sacred boundaries.
Ep. 1278 - How To Fight a Culture War
Q: What is Klavan's view on how revolutions evolve into opposite outcomes?
He argues that reforms evolve into corrupt profit centers, with two parasite types taking over: opportunists who profit from continuing the movement and leftist activists who use it to seize power, eventually turning the movement away from its original righteous aims.
Does Catholicism Make Life Too Difficult?
Q: So what I want to ask you basically is what do you think of this? Do you think that it is real? Because there was an article in Amazon saying, no, they're misinterpreting the numbers.
Pakaluk responds that the Catholic convert trend is real but not explosive; numbers show thousands or tens of thousands rather than millions, and he emphasizes broader global patterns and education as key factors.
A Look Into the Aggressive Muslim World w/ Raymond Ibrahim
Q: Is the Crusades era truly a 'holy war' as described in popular history, or is that a simplification of broader political and religious dynamics?
The interview argues that while the Crusades had religious overtones, they were also driven by complex political, territorial, and power dynamics, and that contemporary depictions have often distorted the historical record.
