  • Well-mannered

Most successful entertainers become arrogant about their opinions when presenting conflicting or unpopular pieces of information. Andrew consistently presents his views humbly (usually) and informatively (always). He is not overbearing like many of his contemporaries. He has great family values as well. He is only slighted in his field because he is not a spectacular self-promoter like the others. Give him a shake; I know you’ll enjoy! Came for Ben; stayed for Klavan.

  • Klavans on the Culture - Great Content

Need to keep Klavans on the Culture going. Great to have some actual thought and discussion about movies, books, and shows without the typical reactionary partisan lense. Content is great and the interaction between father and son is great to observe. Although they aren’t related so maybe it’s a little strange now that I think about it :).

  • A National treasure

Love this show. Mr Klavan is like an old friend you go fishing with. Always entertaining, he has “A Rapist’s wit”**. Comfortable as your old recliner and favorite pair of boots. An old soul, with wisdom to spare.

** From the movie, “Dumb and Dumber”.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Unpopular Truth About Crime in the Black Community w/Heather Mac Donald
Q: What would you say is the path forward for communities struggling with these issues, especially in Black neighborhoods where you emphasize the importance of internal community efforts?
Improvements require a combination of law enforcement support, community accountability, better parenting, and proven educational approaches; outsiders can help by supporting effective institutions and avoiding the race-card narrative that deflects responsibility from within the community.
Ep. 1284 - Surprise! It's Jihad!
Q: Rachel asks whether the host prefers screenplays or novels.
He prefers novels over screenplays, explaining that novels offer greater creative control for the writer and that screenplays can constrain the author's vision due to the director's interpretation.
Ep. 1284 - Surprise! It's Jihad!
Q: Ken asks how often a healthy couple should have sex after pregnancy and multiple children.
The host counsels that a couple should have sex as often as both partners are happy and satisfied, emphasizing open communication about needs and prioritizing emotional connection over routine or obligation.
How This Marine's Platoon Hunted Down the Killer of 140 American Soldiers w/ AJ Pasciuti
Q: Can you describe a little bit of that moral viewpoint? I mean, I know you're a man of faith, where does that come from?
He describes a belief in a higher power and a core American ideal, stressing that war is diplomacy by other means and must be conducted with honor, courage, and commitment.
How This Marine's Platoon Hunted Down the Killer of 140 American Soldiers w/ AJ Pasciuti
Q: Can you tell that story? I'd like to hear the rest of it.
AJ explains the collaborative nature of military success and how the Juba pursuit was a team effort, not about individual glory, emphasizing humility and shared credit.
