  • Every Episode is Interesting

Bruce has, for the first 16 episodes, had a diverse range of leaders, some of whom I disagree with, but this has brought some degree of learning from me. I am looking forward to more.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 68: Former All Black captain, Taine Randell
Q: How did your career path evolve after rugby into business and politics?
After rugby, I leveraged leadership skills into governance roles and industry, moved into energy and emissions consulting, and eventually entered politics to contribute to policy that supports SMEs and economic growth.
Episode 68: Former All Black captain, Taine Randell
Q: What's the key difference between being an All Black and an All Black captain?
Being captain demanded a stronger, more intentional relationship with the coach and a steadier presence under pressure; it was about guiding a diverse group and maintaining composure rather than just performing as an individual.
Episode 68: Former All Black captain, Taine Randell
Q: How did you feel about becoming All Black Captain at a young age and the dynamics with the legendary leadership group around you?
I didn't aim to be captain; it happened and I did it because it was expected of me, but I struggled with the role's pressure and the need to earn the trust of the senior players and coaching staff. It was a transitional period that taught me the importance of integrity and building relationships.
Episode 66: AUT Professor of Nutrition, Caryn Zinn
Q: If you could be the Prime Minister of New Zealand for a day, what would you do to improve health policy?
Prioritize metabolic health within the health system and embed it in the curriculum for all health professionals to shift population health towards prevention.
Episode 63: Orion Health Founder, Ian McCrae
Q: What leadership lesson do you want to leave listeners with?
The key is leadership and collaboration among diverse experts across health domains; governance should enable experts to contribute their knowledge for transformative healthcare changes.
