  • Interesting guests interviewed by a perma bear

3/5 - Guests are interesting and the host is a decent interviewer. This is just a fair warning for casual layperson listeners to not take the host’s views seriously, as he is unfortunately a well known “permabear” (see his twitter) macro gloom & doomer whose market calls have been terribly wrong the last few years.

  • The best Macro Show out there.

Michael is really good of cramming a lot into his X feed; he is even better when he has a longer format to expand in.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Lead-Lag Live | Christopher Gannatti, WisdomTree — The Quantum Computing Investment Case | WQTM ETF
Q: Are there notable companies or platforms you discuss that readers should know about?
Key players include IBM, Microsoft, IonQ, Rigetti, D-Wave, and Nokia among others, with IBM and Microsoft pursuing different qubit modalities and long-term visions; vendors like AWS provide access to quantum services, enabling trial runs even before full on-premises quantum computers are widespread.
Lead-Lag Live | Christopher Gannatti, WisdomTree — The Quantum Computing Investment Case | WQTM ETF
Q: How might investors access quantum exposure today through an ETF like WQTM?
The ETF provides exposure to a basket of qubit makers, hyperscalers, and supporting hardware/software providers across regions, including US and international players, to capture the growth of the quantum space without needing to pick specific winners upfront.
Lead-Lag Live | Christopher Gannatti, WisdomTree — The Quantum Computing Investment Case | WQTM ETF
Q: What is quantum computing, and why is it important for investments today?
The conversation explains quantum computing as leveraging superposition to perform certain calculations more efficiently than classical computers, with implications for cryptography, optimization, and drug discovery. Investors are advised to focus on diversification across the quantum ecosystem (qubit makers, hyperscalers, software, and infrastructure) rather than picking a single stock.
Lead-Lag Live | Christopher Gannatti, WisdomTree — The Quantum Computing Investment Case | WQTM ETF
Q: Who are you? What's your background? What do you do at WisdomTree?
Chris describes joining WisdomTree in 2010, working with Jeremy Schwartz and Professor Jeremy Siegel, and leads research across the firm's quantum and tech investment themes, including publishing insights on blogs and Substack. He emphasizes the long tail of quantum investing and the diversified approach WisdomTree uses via the WQTM ETF and broader research.
AI's Hidden Risk: When Every Quant Owns the Same Stocks | Kai Wu
Q: What is your view on how intangible assets change traditional valuation metrics for tech companies?
Intangible assets fundamentally alter the equation because they capture value not visible on the balance sheet, like brands, IP, and especially network effects, which can sustain high margins and growth even when earnings look compressed. This shifts us away from relying solely on book value or earnings and toward assessing how investments in intangibles translate into durable competitive advantages over time.
