  • Interesting guests interviewed by a perma bear

3/5 - Guests are interesting and the host is a decent interviewer. This is just a fair warning for casual layperson listeners to not take the host’s views seriously, as he is unfortunately a well known “permabear” (see his twitter) macro gloom & doomer whose market calls have been terribly wrong the last few years.

  • The best Macro Show out there.

Michael is really good of cramming a lot into his X feed; he is even better when he has a longer format to expand in.

The 60/40 Portfolio Is Dead: Risk Parity in a World on Fire | The 60/40 Portfolio Is Dead: Risk Parity in a World on Fire on Lead-Lag Live
Q: How does risk parity differ from the traditional 60/40 approach in terms of diversification and risk management?
Risk parity shifts the focus from chasing returns in a single stock-dominated universe to balancing across asset classes with different responses to growth and inflation, using leverage to maintain equal risk contributions. This approach aims to smooth returns and reduce drawdowns by not overexposing the portfolio to the most volatile asset.
Lead-Lag Live: Luke Oliver, KraneShares — KMLM Managed Futures | KMLM Managed Futures on Lead-Lag Live
Q: For those that want to learn more about these two funds beyond this conversation, where would you point them?
Luke points to KraneShares' website and tickers KMLM, KRBN, and KCCA, and offers to share additional materials and contact information via LinkedIn, Twitter, or email.
The Great Unwind: Capital Cycles, Concentration Risk, and What Comes Next | Lead-Lag Live
Q: What does the AI adoption phase imply for portfolio construction beyond pure infrastructure exposure?
Aim for a balanced exposure by focusing on three categories (infrastructure, early adopters, laggards) and seek firms that leverage AI through intangible assets, which historically correlate with stronger earnings growth. This allows participation in AI upside while avoiding the crowding risk of overinvesting in the Mag-7 infrastructure players.
The Rise of the Machines: Humanoids, AI, and the New Global Arms Race | The Rise of the Machines: Humanoids, AI, and the New Global Arms Race on Lead-Lag Live
Q: Why include private AI companies like Anthropic in a public ETF?
Private holdings provide exposure to high-growth AI companies not yet public, creating a complete AI ecosystem exposure alongside public companies for long-term growth.
The Rise of the Machines: Humanoids, AI, and the New Global Arms Race | The Rise of the Machines: Humanoids, AI, and the New Global Arms Race on Lead-Lag Live
Q: What happens to the illiquid part of the ETF when Anthropic goes public?
Shares held privately are treated as public shares on IPO day; the value becomes transparent as IPO occurs, allowing the illiquid portion to transition in line with market pricing.
