  • Great podcast, but audio levels too low

This is a great podcast, and Jesse has many knowledgeable guests on to speak about the various legal issues involved. However, my one beef is that the volume is way too low in the recording and I have to turn it way up. Maybe turn the recording volume up a smidge? Other than that, keep up the great work!

  • daily news

I always look forward to listening to Sidebar every morning. It’s like my daily news! I love how Jesse also brings on guests who are practicing or retired attorneys. I’m interested in law, and this show helps me prepare for future cases and how to not have a biased opinion, but rather look at FACTS and details of a case. Thanks again L&C!

  • Off the beaten path stories

If you want the usual, over-covered stories about Luigi M and our messed up government, this site isn’t for you. Stories on this site are interesting and generally not covered by mainstream, fake news networks who cover all things Trump.

  • Bring Back Old Format

This podcast used to be absolutely amazing. Not sure what happened, but during past 1.5 years it definitely became biased and sensational. It used to have really interesting stories about the inter-workings of legal proceedings. Now it feels somewhat ambulance chaser-esque. Before all of these changes it was an easy sell, now it is a hard pass.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

'Clavicular’ Caught in Wild Alligator Shooting Scandal
Q: How serious is the charge and what could happen if he's convicted?
The attorney describes it as a pretty serious misdemeanor with potential jail time, but notes that given it is a misdemeanor and depending on prosecutors and judges, a jail sentence is not guaranteed; other factors and pleas could influence the outcome.
Feds Could Make D4vd's Murder Case Even Worse
Q: Could federal charges be on the horizon?
Yes. The guest explains that federal charges could apply if interstate elements are present or if digital evidence (like iCloud data and cross-border communications) demonstrates a nexus with interstate commerce. Potential charges include possession or production of child pornography, kidnapping, and sex trafficking, depending on the specifics of the case and how the evidence is developed.
Panic Growing as 10 Scientists Mysteriously Die or Vanish
Q: How significant is the FBI-led investigation, and what does 'connection' really mean in this context?
The FBI-led effort is warranted and could be very time-consuming; 'connection' is about discerning whether the cases share a common thread or are isolated incidents, with the possibility of multiple case numbers and specialized programs guiding the review.
Panic Growing as 10 Scientists Mysteriously Die or Vanish
Q: Based on what you've been briefed, what do you think is happening here, and do you think this is connected or totally random?
The expert hopes for randomness but stresses that investigators will know more in the next week and a half; there are some very important people among the victims and there may be a mix of random events and potential connections that require thorough investigation.
D4vd Apologized for Home's 'Bad Smell' Weeks After Alleged Dismemberment: Report
Q: Is it unusual at this stage for prosecutors to reveal so much of their evidence?
Yes, it's unusual; preliminary hearings are meant to establish probable cause, so front-loading extensive evidence can be a double-edged sword, potentially aiding the defense in testing the prosecution's narrative.
