  • Such great in depth info!

My inquiring mind ALWAYS wants to know more than the handful of talking points for these criminal cases! Thanks to your entire crew for getting to the nitty gritty! One suggestion for Jesse for those of us listening in busy places..PLEASE keep the volume of your voice UP and evenly toned, you probably don’t realize your voice gets super low and muffled when you “sidebar” your thoughts! I keep having to rewind and listen again and again! =P

  • Great podcast, but audio levels too low

This is a great podcast, and Jesse has many knowledgeable guests on to speak about the various legal issues involved. However, my one beef is that the volume is way too low in the recording and I have to turn it way up. Maybe turn the recording volume up a smidge? Other than that, keep up the great work!

  • daily news

I always look forward to listening to Sidebar every morning. It’s like my daily news! I love how Jesse also brings on guests who are practicing or retired attorneys. I’m interested in law, and this show helps me prepare for future cases and how to not have a biased opinion, but rather look at FACTS and details of a case. Thanks again L&C!

  • Off the beaten path stories

If you want the usual, over-covered stories about Luigi M and our messed up government, this site isn’t for you. Stories on this site are interesting and generally not covered by mainstream, fake news networks who cover all things Trump.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Woman’s Horrific Fatal Rope Jump Triggers Homicide Charges
Q: Could they be found guilty of a lesser crime than murder, and would they still face prison?
Yes, the guest explains that a jury could convict for a lesser offense like a non-intentional homicide or manslaughter depending on how intent and negligence are proven, potentially avoiding prison if the verdict reflects negligence rather than intent.
Woman’s Horrific Fatal Rope Jump Triggers Homicide Charges
Q: What exactly are the three individuals charged with, and what does that imply for their detention?
They are charged with homicide, potentially with implied malice, and the discussion clarifies that without clear intent to kill, the case could be treated as culpa (negligence) rather than dolo (intent), which can affect imprisonment and trial procedure.
Disheveled D4vd's Messy Appearance Stuns Courtroom
Q: How did he look compared to the last time you saw him?
She observed that he appeared not to have slept well, with bags under his eyes and a general disheveled look, contrasting with a more composed or different presentation in prior appearances.
Disheveled D4vd's Messy Appearance Stuns Courtroom
Q: Before we get into the substantive issues about what happened today, how did David look?
Julia Deng describes him as looking disheveled and tired, with a haircut possibly requested by his lawyers, indicating fatigue and stress, but she notes his engagement with the proceedings and a defiant, camera-facing demeanor.
‘Nude Photos’ Scandal Prompts ‘Scathing’ Probe
Q: But I thought it was interesting that she held this press conference. What did you make of that?
The host and guest suggest the press conference underscores the politics of personal privacy, signaling a desire to control the narrative and potentially influence public perception, while acknowledging the ongoing sensitivity and stigma around intimate images and political careers.
