  • Rename it ‘Helena Kennedy talking over other people’

Could be a very interesting podcast but isn’t because every episode is dominated by Helena Kennedy with Charlie and Nicholas struggling to get a word in.

That isn’t to say that Helena doesn’t have anything interesting to say, because she does - but so do Charlie and Nicholas but we hardly get to hear from them.

Get a decent producer to ensure all three hosts get equal airtime without being constantly interrupted.

  • Less Politics more Law

Please do get more guests on. The latest commentary on the BBC/Trump case simply turned into a left-wing soapbox rant.

  • Needs to be better organised

Interesting, smart people with useful things to say. But a successful podcast isn’t just putting three clever people into a room together - there needs to be some structure, otherwise you end up with this, where people keep talking over each other, trying to make their point, going off on tangents, etc.

It’s so infuriating to listen to, when it has so much potential.

  • Excellent show

A wonderful and insightful show which include, law, debate, history, culture development and policy. I listen to Rest is History and pay for it, but that show is missing whatever that is being discussed here, which suggests that I would pay for this show as well so that we encourage good high quality shows. Long may good debate survive through these individuals.

The Life of Theodor Meron: The Godfather of International Humanitarian Law
Q: How did your path lead you from these experiences to becoming a senior legal adviser and then a judge on international tribunals?
After surviving and relocating to Israel, I pursued study in law, helped establish a foundation in international law, and through roles in the Foreign Ministry, UN mission, and academia, I gradually shifted toward international criminal law, eventually becoming a judge and contributing to the development of modern humanitarian law.
The Life of Theodor Meron: The Godfather of International Humanitarian Law
Q: Go back to your beginning, you're born in 1930 in Poland, and in 1939, the Second World War starts with the German invasion of Poland. Where are you when that happens?
I was in a city near the German border, fleeing east with my family as the invasion unfolded, eventually ending up in Czestochowa where the Jewish community faced severe repression and where much of the early trauma of the war occurred for my family.
The Iran Crisis
Q: Ken, what does US law say about where you war?
Roughly, the War Powers Act requires presidential advance authorization from Congress in most cases, though in practice presidents often act first and seek funding or authorization later; Congress could withhold funding to constrain action.
The Libor Appeal (with Tom Hayes)
Q: What is your feeling about what went wrong in the whole legal process?
Tom stated it was a series of errors compounded by a lack of understanding from the judiciary about market practices.
The Libor Appeal (with Tom Hayes)
Q: Did you feel that you were scapegoated?
Tom expressed frustration that senior managers were not prosecuted despite being part of the culture that led to his conviction.
