I’m still waiting for this show to come back! Was listening to it in 2019. Hope you’re thinking about starting it again :) anyway good luck for the host!
...and quite snobbish about it. All of his criticisms are more true of multilingual purists than Esperantists. It is NOT a political movement.
Found Donovan's podcast through his blog and appreciate his advice. After struggling with learning a 2nd language I can appreciate all the mistakes I made and that he points out when it comes to becoming conversational. Emphasises the basics and is someone who has obviously put in the hard yards to get where he is!
I agree. He’s completely correct about how we learn our first language and how to become fluent in a language. You can take years of language classes in an American school, but still fail to be able to hold a conversation. On the other hand, some of us don’t learn the same way he does. The approach that Donovan teaches is correct for learning fluency, and it works very well for his learning style, which may be the most common learning style. However, some of us actually LOVE grammar! Some of us ... more
Passed judgement without even using it. Terrible, miserable review that contained no positives.
Love the podcast, would love to see more episodes!
I also have been trying to get back into learning Spanish again, since I got stuck in the Intermediate level and gave up many years ago. As an ESL teacher I have felt embarrassed about this, I know my Spanish speaking students judge me on it, too. So I decided to pick up Spanish again. The language learning world has changed a lot , and there are more podcasts and YouTube channels out there now than before. I gave up. Then I found this podcast. It has been so helpful so far. His advice is timele... more
For some reason, most language learners on YouTube and in podcasts have irksome personalities. Not so with Donovan! I really enjoy any content this guy puts out. Check out this podcast!
Great content. Clear and direct advice. Thank you for your hard work!
I listen to a lot of language learning podcasts. This is my favorite. I feel he goes deeper than most others and often approaches things from a different point of view.
Host is angry and spreads uninformed opinions and untrue facts about languages; podcast is basically useless for learning languages; there are podcasts on polyglots much more worth listening out there, so don't waste your time
This podcast is so helpful and encouraging when trying to learn a new language or improve on a current language. Highly recommend.
