Ten year LFR listener. Love this addition to my podcast rotation but the production is poor. Mid sentence commercials are awful on this podcast. Hopefully they put some effort into fixing that.

  • Best Lakers Podcast Out there

I really enjoy this podcast. It's one of the best in the business. I do listen to Lakers Film Room, Buha’s Block, and the Laker Nation podcast, along with some other ones like Locked On Lakers and whatnot.

I was super excited to have the Lakers Collective come together and the fact that they added Pete to the mix, who's a long-time Laker supporter. I really like that addition to that. Pete is an Xs &Os kind of guy. He's very analytical when it comes to Lakers basketball, which is very similar t... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Lakers Beat Kings in Austin Reaves' Preseason Debut, But Questions Remain
Q: What kind of backup big should the Lakers pursue to address their center and rebounding problems?
The panel favors a strong defensive player who can protect the rim and rebound, ideally a center who can also finish as a lob threat. A versatile four-five could also fit, provided the player helps make lineups with Mamu competent defensively.
Lakers Beat Kings in Austin Reaves' Preseason Debut, But Questions Remain
Q: Is the Lakers' strategy of using wings such as Ado, Zaire Williams and Matisse Thybulle to pressure ball handlers sustainable, and why is Quinton Grimes not in that role?
Pete Zayas says those wings are among the team's best at creating deflections and disrupting passing angles, which can prevent offenses from initiating cleanly. The panel notes that Grimes had been expected to take on more point-of-attack defense but has instead struggled with decision-making and turnovers on offense.
Luka Doncic Drops 52 POINTS as Lakers STUN Jazz in HUGE Comeback Win!
Q: What are three things that need to happen for the Lakers to at least have a shot to make the Western Conference finals this season?
The hosts identify acquiring a playable backup center, improving defensive rebounding, and handling high-pressure defenses without excessive turnovers as important needs.
Luka Doncic Drops 52 POINTS as Lakers STUN Jazz in HUGE Comeback Win!
Q: What do you think about the thought of sustainability for what we're seeing out of Austin, and Luka as well as a duo, but specifically Austin, is this sustainable?
The hosts expect Austin Reaves' early shooting numbers to cool against stronger opponents, but see encouraging signs in his growing two-man game with Luka Dončić, his ability to relocate for open shots and his potential to improve his decision-making.
Lakers Back-to-Back Takeaways: What We Learned Against Portland and the Clippers!
Q: Do you guys think that's something that is going to just naturally improve over time as he settles into this role as a primary ball handler, or is this just kind of always going to be part of the Austin Reaves experience?
Pete Zayas says Reaves should work on retreating into space and using fakes to reduce turnovers, rather than expecting the issue to resolve on its own. Jovan Buha distinguishes Reaves's ball handling from his passing, noting that both need improvement against elite defenses.
