  • Invigorating!

What a joy to listen to rich conversations with some of the world’s top economic and geopolitical thinkers. And it’s brilliantly navigated by Taimur — who neither talks down nor gets too far in the weeds, and allows his guests room to air out big ideas without unnecessary interruption. Here’s to many more!

  • Excellent economic insights

I love this podcast. Gives a great insight into topical and interesting economic themes with a focus on Asia but with global relevance. Some brilliant guests all expertly marshalled by Mr Baig. Acts as an interesting lens on key macro developments such as digitalisation, COVID and the growing focus on ESG and sustainability. Am embarrassed to say I was about 30 episodes in before I realised Kopi is Malay for coffee!..

Kopi Time E180 - Tech Wave with Bain's Ravi Vijayaraghavan
Q: How do enterprise versus consumer AI plays differ in monetization and adoption?
Enterprise tools, especially coding and workflow automation, are more readily monetizable and scalable within organizations, while consumer models face slower monetization despite large potential reach.
Kopi Time E180 - Tech Wave with Bain's Ravi Vijayaraghavan
Q: What are the main risk factors he sees for the AI market now?
Key risks include demand not materializing as quickly as frontier-model costs imply, higher interest rates impacting funding, and potential winners/losers distribution impacting profitability and adoption.
Kopi Time E180 - Tech Wave with Bain's Ravi Vijayaraghavan
Q: How would you characterize the current pace and pervasiveness of the AI wave?
Ravi argues the wave is truly pervasive, changing not just computing, but how information is accessed and used across sectors, with self-improvement baked into the technology, making it uniquely dynamic.
Kopi Time E179: Energy markets with Vandana Hari
Q: How does Asia particularly fare in this crisis, and what can be learned from China's approach?
Asia is structurally dependent on Hormuz flows, and China's vast stockpiles and active export restrictions have helped it absorb shocks more than peers; lessons include stockpiling, domestic refinement management, and strategic reserves,
Kopi Time E179: Energy markets with Vandana Hari
Q: What are the main bottlenecks in crude supply right now?
The non-Middle East production ramp-up provides some mitigation, but the magnitude of the shock (around 14-15 million barrels per day absent) dwarfs short-term gains from shale and other regions; the response is fast but limited in scale.
