  • Phil’s Got It!

The most recent version of the show sounds like it’s the best version! He has had several sidekicks in the past, but Phil focused, is probably the best!

  • New Format

I’ve been a faithful listener for years and love the show, but this new format of breaking episodes up into (sometimes) 4 minutes increments, including countless adds, makes it practically unlistenable.

  • Afternoon Dive

As an independent I appreciate the respectful, thoughtful and considerate approach Philip and E take on all topics. I appreciate how they discuss the facts and get past all the political noise. I rarely miss a show.

  • Great show! Tend to choose them over others

Ray Appleton got me into talk radio. I LOVE Ray’s show (always have); however, I’m catching myself choosing to listen to Philip and E more. These two balance each other out very well. They can respectfully disagree but still joke and be friends. Recommend to anyone as they bring in politics but also “other” items.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Genius Act: Innovation Draining the Valley’s Economic Lifeblood
Q: Are our California senators receptive to BizFed's request to close the loophole in the Genius Act?
Clint Olivier explains that they are part of a coalition and plan sustained outreach to senators Schiff and Padilla to nudge them toward reviewing and potentially closing the loophole, though no formal stance has been settled yet.
Matt Mahan Post Governor Debate
Q: How would you handle driver's license issuance for non-English speakers and language proficiency concerns for high-risk drivers?
The DMV must ensure that licensing standards for safety are rigorous and that testing is thorough, with accountability for high-risk drivers like 18-wheelers, while avoiding immigration policy debates; focus is on safety and competence, not language per se.
Matt Mahan Post Governor Debate
Q: What is your approach to homelessness, and how could it scale to the state?
San Jose's model combines prevention, short-term support, and intensive case management to bridge people to stability, plus interim housing and safe alternatives to tents, all aimed at reducing homelessness while saving taxpayer money; the key is scalable, accountable interventions.
Candidate for California’s Secretary of State Don Wagner
Q: What does the secretary of state do in California?
It is California's chief elections officer and head of the state's business division, with constitutional duties that are independent of the governor and focus on election administration and business regulation.
Artemis II Pre-Reentry with Derrol Nail
Q: In a situation where the engineering is so precise, is an over sensitive sensor kind of a common thing on a reentry project like this?
Derrol explains that Orion has thousands of sensors and teams decide whether a sensor is faulty or the data is misleading, with redundancies allowing them to validate information and proceed once a bad sensor is ruled out.
