  • LDS Flakes

Another Mormon podcast by schmucks for and by the church of schmucks to convince the schmucks to keep paying tithing. Anyone attuned to what this corporation has and is selling will instantly regret wasting their time listening. It does give valuable insight into how chameleon this “church” has become, changing doctrines and even commandments overnight in hopes of avoiding being seen for what they are.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 38: LDS scholar debunks myths about declining membership
Q: Do anti-LDS ministries or alternative faiths aggressively pursued after de-identification cause people to leave the church?
The data show that individuals who disconnect are not more likely to become atheists or join other specific religions than those leaving other faiths; many end up staying within some religious framework or shifting to another religion rather than becoming non-religious.
Ep. 38: LDS scholar debunks myths about declining membership
Q: What are the main predictors that lead youth to de-identify from the church?
Predictors include political misalignment with church views, less daily perceived God presence, and certain life transitions; however, a strong pattern shows many who leave still value religion and would re-engage if invited by friends.
Ep. 37: LDS historian debunks myths about Adam & Eve
Q: What should we be dogmatic about as far as Adam and Eve?
The only thing we really have to be dogmatic about is that Adam and Eve existed and we descend from them.
Ep. 37: LDS historian debunks myths about Adam & Eve
Q: So, in what way does death enter the world through the fall, if it already existed?
It presents questions about how death and other conditions existed prior to the fall, suggesting that the fall may not be as absolute as traditionally viewed.
Ep. 37: LDS historian debunks myths about Adam & Eve
Q: So, what about that is real in the sense that it actually happened and affects us today?
The parts of the fall that we think are necessary tend to be death, reproduction, and experience.
