  • My top choice for Phil news. No more annoying music or old-time-y announcer, thankfully

My top choice for pares about the Philippines, but there are few competitors. The music is mostly gone and so is the odd, old-time-y announcer, both of which are improvements. The stories are now all announced by fake AI voices, which is O.K. It is surprising how few mispronunciations there are. One common one is pronouncing “Sandy Co” as “Sandy company”

  • Good start

It would be best if you can stop using AI reading program and use true human voice

  • Annoying music but few options

This gets a higher rating because there are few other options for headlines about the Philippines. Greatest among the negatives is the music played throughout. The music makes it harder to hear the voices. Further it is distracting and terrible as music. I am aware of only one other headline podcast that has such mood music, also from the Philippines. Most do not have it since mood music is distracting and manipulative. There is also no need to read the actual printed headline; Just read the led... more

  • Quick source for local PH news, but one reporter has an annoying reporting voice

I like the concise reporting on the latest local news but one of the reporters (Christian?) has a forced anglicized pronunciation of words, replaces a lot of “s” and “-tion” with “z/zh.” All of which gets more annoying the more he does it.

Other than that, good job. It’s my pod source of local PH news, and listen to it alongside BBC Global news for world news and NPR shows for US news.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

DEAR PAO: The right of the accused to examine supporting documents of a search warrant | June 28, 2026
Q: Does my father have the right to see those documents so he can challenge whether the search warrant was valid or his constitutional rights were violated?
Yes, the discussion emphasizes that the accused should have the opportunity to examine the warrant's supporting documents, facilitating due process and the evaluation of probable cause, while recognizing balances with protecting informants' identities.
DEAR PAO: Purpose of adverse claim | June 6, 2026
Q: What is the purpose of an adverse claim on a title and how long does it last?
An adverse claim is annotated to alert third parties of a controversy over ownership and to protect the interests of the claimant; it lasts for 30 days from the date of registration, but this window does not automatically cancel the claim, as its validity can extend beyond 30 days if a court has not yet ruled and a verified petition for cancellation has not been decided.
DEAR PAO: Application for probation | May 26, 2026
Q: When can probation be granted in relation to an appeal?
A probation may be granted upon application within the period for perfecting an appeal, and probation cannot generally be taken after an appeal is filed unless the modified judgment expressly allows it.
DEAR PAO: Application for probation | May 26, 2026
Q: Is it true that he can avoid jail time by applying for probation?
Probation is a discretionary privilege, not a guaranteed right, and whether it avoids jail time depends on the judge's ruling and the specifics of the case, including the crime and timing related to appeals.
DEAR PAO: Sidewalks and movable obstructions | May 22, 2026
Q: My neighbor asserts that what he is doing is legal because the cart is readily movable and not a fixed structure. Is he legally correct?
No, he is not legally correct. Sidewalks are public property and cannot be converted for private or commercial use, even if the cart is movable; doing so constitutes a violation of the law and can lead to penalties.
