With the fake dating and all, it almost feels like fanfic, yet it's also incredibly grounded and realistic, both in the sense of portraying what it was like to be a lgbtq+ teenager in the 2000s, and having the characters and their dynamics feel very real. I think that helps the story feel very compelling. It feels like you could be there, and these could be people that... more

I just found this podcast and binged it all immediately. A heartfelt queer romcom about mid 2000s high school students? Sign me up, baby. So many of the little details and specifics brought me screaming back to my own queer aughts youth and I’m rooting for the main characters through and through. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out for them, and hopefully more from these creators!

Ireland2 years ago Fake dating romantic comedy adaptation of the author's Enjolras/Grantaire fanfic "World Ain't Ready". The show is partially narrated in the first person, partially acted out through dialogue, which is fun and snarky (though the quirkiness, in my opinion, can sometimes work better written than spoken). The audio quality is mid. It's a cute teen romance that also deals with themes of homophobia.

Although this story is about an awkward romance between two young men. The main charaters display a contemporary heroism and sincere care for others making them easy to like and feel a connection to. The story maintains suspense with the stories on the supporting charcters as well as the main ones. Discrimination and bullying happens but is dealt with constructively providing a positive message. Really looking forward to the next episode

This is cheating because I'm in the Patreon and have advance knowledge of Events and Songs and Things, but even with just 1 episode out, I can guarantee this show is a whild good time. The audio editing is great (a must, tbh), the acting's incredibly enjoyable, and the story is one that hits me right in my queer, went-to-a-moderately-conservative-high-school-in-the-aughties, big, soft, squishy heart. Nothing but love for this show <3

One of my favorite podcasts full stop. Some amazing scriptwriting is happening here to translate this from book to podcast format so well. The humor is brilliant and meeting all of these characters in an audio format has been such an amazing experience. I loved every minute of the first episode and have gone back to listen to it several times just to experience that magic again

That beautiful moment of disability representation in the middle of the episode made my heart fill to the brim. Then I immediately listened to it again!
I left high school about a year or so before the time this podcast is set. Hearing, through the characters in this podcast, that there might have been other teenagers out there that cared about being kind and supportive...feels healing.
