  • Great Content

I love listening to Jason’s perspective on running a firm. There’s so much to implement during one 55 minutes session. And so little time to implement them! The resources are endless and it gives me hope that our firm will be a high-tech fine tuned machine in the next 12 months. Jason does amazing work and relates to all levels of staff and leadership! Help yourself by letting Jason help you!!

  • Great podcast, but lots of ads

I love the information you’re providing Jason but please dial back the amount of ads by at least 50%. I understand you’ve got to make money but good Lord 130 minute episode having 5 to 6 ad spots is crazy. People have gotten way too greedy with the amount of ads, they’re willing to run in the middle of a free podcast episode

614 The Three Types of Accounting Firm AI [And where to deploy each in your accounting firm]
Q: How should firms approach hiring an AI expert or coach?
Treat it as an accountability and capability-building move rather than seeking a unicorn; consider hiring an AI expert to sit with the team as a forcing function, or bring in a coach to help the team use AI effectively; ensure everyone on the team is involved in learning and that there is structured time for practice and implementation.
614 The Three Types of Accounting Firm AI [And where to deploy each in your accounting firm]
Q: What are the three AI timelines and which is most likely to dominate next?
The three timelines are: (1) broad generalist AI that unifies across apps, (2) a middle path of generalist AI with strong MCP integrations, and (3) embedded AI within existing platforms; the episode notes uncertainty about which will win, with many firms likely adopting a mix depending on security, scale, and vendor openness.
615 The First $1B Accounting Firm Rollup [What this means for small accounting firms]
Q: First question, how do you get clients to work with my staff instead of me?
Implement a cascading availability system from admin to staff to the owner, use staff-led project handoffs with short videos to build client rapport, and bring in clients who your team can confidently serve so client relationships stay scalable.
611 The Most Important Software in your Accounting Firm [And the cost of getting it wrong]
Q: Will AI lead to a mandated niche or specialization, or does it increase risk if you niching too narrowly?
AI increases the importance of specialization, but niching down remains valuable because it enables deeper expertise, stronger networks within a niche, and a competitive edge that AI alone cannot replace; the risk of staying generalist rises as AI grows more capable across tasks.
611 The Most Important Software in your Accounting Firm [And the cost of getting it wrong]
Q: Do you see a world where there is a premium placed on human tax preparation or bookkeeping versus AI?
Yes, a premium will persist for the human element, particularly for nuanced, advisory interactions; however, productized AI-driven solutions will continue to mature and attract higher pricing, pushing firms to differentiate by the depth of human insight and client relations rather than just the automation itself.
