  • Stick to business

Love the podcast for the business content but the constant swipes at government policy after 14 years of austerity and the instability and chaotic nature of the tories it feels like these guys are just a right wing Tory / reform mouthpiece. Unless you want to look at the picture as a whole rather than tax policies, leave it alone

  • We Rated This Podcast For A Punt

I tune in to Business Broadcast religiously, partly for the entrepreneurial wisdom, mostly for the reassurance that I’m not the only one juggling chaos, caffeine, and questionable spreadsheets.

James, you’re brutally honest, slightly terrifying, but somehow motivating enough to make me believe my business Sophia Victoria Joy (we make personalised gifts that actually make people cry happy tears) might just take over the world… one gift at a time.

Consider this my official Post-for-a-punt entry,... more

  • Great podcast spoilt by politics

Used to love this podcast, and the addition of JB made it even better. However the increasing amount of politics and slating the UK as a place to do business has become too much and I decided to stop listening.

£1M+ Restaurant at just 21 years old! Now Facing The Brutal Struggles of Hospitality & Leisure
Q: Is growing the restaurant, i.e., opening more restaurants, the right strategy?
The host prompts consideration of scale versus market size, acknowledging high VAT and wage costs while suggesting that expansion should be balanced with the available population and labor pool, and weighing opportunities elsewhere like London.
Franchise Owner Hits £60k/month! Now Planning to Break the Mold
Q: When do you know you're at the right level to start investing your cash rather than keeping it in the bank?
Use investing days to research property and potential acquisitions, ensure consistent cash flow, and align investments with a long-term wealth-building plan rather than just increasing bank balances.
Franchise Owner Hits £60k/month! Now Planning to Break the Mold
Q: Do you think expanding into a different area would work, though? It could be an hour's drive away.
Nathan should explore larger expansion by buying the whole business and building a broader ecosystem, as well as looking at other premises and markets while maintaining strategic control.
London Art Gallery Hits £50k/month! But UK Taxes are Increasingly difficult
Q: Finn, could you explain to the audience what is going on with your business on Camden High Street?
Finn describes COAG as an art gallery with additional revenue streams including a coffee space and an agency/printing side, creating an ecosystem that sustains multiple revenue channels, but is being squeezed by rising costs and a seasonal revenue pattern.
£50K/Month Candle Business! But Cash Flow Is Strangling Growth
Q: What's your business model going forward?
We're focused on increasing direct-to-consumer sales while maintaining UK wholesale relationships.
