  • Enough with the Gotcha journalism

I generally enjoy the detail and discussions during this podcast, but at times the host can be argumentative and condescending towards the guests, it’s exhausting to listen to.

I understand that the host wants to challenge the guests on numbers, facts and plans (they are all professionals after all), but it appears at times that the host wants to employ “gotcha” questioning, please stop.

  • Okay

Seems a little amateur and haphazard relative to the Inside Politics podcast. The interviewer is not especially likeable either

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Aer Lingus job cuts and Ryanair’s profits plunge - what is happening in the Irish aviation sector?
Q: Owen, what do you think about Aer Lingus potentially operating outside the IAG structure?
Absolutely not. It's a very cold place to be; without IAG's backing, Aer Lingus would face a far tougher financing and fleet-management environment, making the status quo inside IAG more favorable.
Will the State’s plan for the Carlton Cinema site revitalise O’Connell Street?
Q: Did Transport Infrastructure Ireland need to buy the Carlton site to deliver a Metrolink stop?
Cliff Taylor explains that while the five-acre site is being acquired for the Metrolink, the SPV that will later own or manage redevelopment has not yet been legally established, implying the purchase may be part of a broader strategy rather than a simple immediate need.
How can tech offer solutions for obesity and weight management?
Q: What does the funding journey look like for a startup like Beyond BMI or Xtremepush?
Startups often begin with founder capital and targeted grants or investments, supplemented by early customer-funded growth; looking ahead, larger investment rounds may be pursued to scale into new markets while balancing profitability and expansion timelines.
How can tech offer solutions for obesity and weight management?
Q: How is AI impacting your business, and how are you applying AI in healthcare and professional services?
AI is being used as an enabler to enhance service delivery and physician efficiency (e.g., AI scribes for documentation), while the human relationship remains essential for patient buy-in and trust; there is a shift toward AI-assisted decisioning and execution with ongoing attention to data integrity and governance.
How can tech offer solutions for obesity and weight management?
Q: How does Ireland differ in treating obesity and weight loss compared to other countries?
Ireland recognizes obesity as a disease and uses Canadian guidelines, which places it ahead of some countries in acknowledging obesity as a health issue, though telemedicine and online prescribing have room to grow; online, doctor-led obesity care is expanding as part of a wraparound approach.
