  • Good but same issues as all financial podcasts

Ultimately they have the same view as most of those offering investment advice - go boring, long term, diversified.

Which is great. But you can’t make a podcast out of that. So you end up making episodes about all sorts of stuff and ultimately it dilutes that core message.

  • Too many irrelevant content

The information is good but the hosts spend too much time on irrelevant chats.

  • Good info

I mean the info is great. The guy spending half of each episode talking about himself is super painful tho

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why I don't like dividend stocks
Q: What do you look for in management to ensure they won't squander capital when pursuing growth?
I look for a track record across cycles, sensible capital allocation, and a focus on industry dynamics and strategic choices that preserve or improve ROE over time.
Why I don't like dividend stocks
Q: Can you talk a little bit about return on equity and why that is a good thing for a company, why that's something you look for as an investor?
ROE reflects how effectively a company uses shareholders' equity to generate profits; high and sustainable ROE suggests a durable competitive advantage and the ability to reinvest earnings for growth rather than paying them out as dividends.
Lessons from the GFC
Q: Could you briefly explain what uncertainty rating means?
The uncertainty rating communicates how confident Morningstar is in the forecasts underpinning stock valuations; it reflects the wider band of outcomes, as in AI-related growth, which makes long-horizon precision harder.
Lessons from the GFC
Q: So what does a market strategist do?
Lachlan explains that Morningstar Equity Research is a team of fundamental, bottom-up analysts covering about 20 ASX-listed stocks each; his role is to extract big market-wide insights from that bottom-up work and communicate them.
5 considerations for new ETFs
Q: What is the first question an investor should ask themselves when considering a brand new fund?
Why does this fund exist? What makes this fund worthy of my attention?
