It has been two years since Maidan Square in Kiev burned during the police crackdown on pro-EU protesters, and yet the memory of events there still burns bright in the hearts and minds of many in Ukraine and beyond. Now "Winter On Fire," a documentar... more
Is Russia giving rockets to Hezbollah? Did Israel tell Russia it was conducting airstrikes against Hezbollah's leadership? When did the conflicts in the Middle East start, and what did Obama mean when he said Russia was "propping up" Ukraine? This we... more
This week Boston College Professor Matt Sienkiewicz is joined by The Interpreter's managing editor James Miller and journalist David Patrikarakos to discuss the Iran nuclear deal, Russian neo-Eurasianism, North Korea, and the Russia's role in the Mid... more
Very comprehensive, great listen
I loved the original version of this podcast, and the blog. The work collating and a musing information about the conflict in Ukraine was excellent and not easily accessible elsewhere. Then they changed format to general Russia coverage and some unrelated issues. There is too much of an obvious bias in the Russia coverage and echoes the standard tropes of Russia coverage. I'm not sure why they talk about things like US presidential candidates. I started this podcast with high hopes, but am back ... more
I’ve been following the podcast since the developments in Syria and their discussions and debates are great. The inclusion of industry-leading experts serve to inform and challenge the thoughts of the day. I would highly recommend taking a listen.
A sorely needed academic deep dive on current complex geopolitical events involving Russia.
I know what the co-hosts have to say is interesting and relevant but the way they deliver it needs some work. I felt the discussion on the MH 17 investigation was rambling, lacked cohesion, and had not been well thought out. I suggest a tighter outline and script until the participants become more adept at speaking on air. I look forward to more episodes.
I've been listening to this podcast since early this year. Each episode is full of knowledgable and insightful discussions with commentators who really know their stuff about Russia and the Ukrainian crisis. Highly recommended.
P.S. Their Ukrainian crisis live blog, updated daily for about 160 days now, is essential reading for anyone wanting to keep up with the latest news from the conflict.
Interesting hosts, great insight on Russia and the media. They did a great overview of recent shakeups in Russian state media.
