Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Mike Doman- Hellions
Q: What makes your agency philosophy unique in how you interact with clients?
We prioritize being small and independent to remove bureaucracy, involve clients in the process, and maintain a bias toward speed and seniority; clients have access to shared documents and are involved in brainstorming sessions, ensuring the work serves their needs and delivers measurable impact.
Mike Doman- Hellions
Q: How did you and your partners meet and decide to start Hellions?
We met at Bullfrog and found immediate chemistry, which made it clear we could build something together. After years of working separately and gaining experience across various agencies, we decided to form our own shop with a shared philosophy of value creation and transparency.
Ace of Hearts and the Return of Creative Belief
Q: What are your plans to maintain culture and scale in the next 12 months?
They aim to prove the model with client wins, keep a people-centric culture, and expand the canvas of creativity, including partnerships and a broader, more neutral approach to problem solving with a focus on outcomes over traditional advertising.
Ace of Hearts and the Return of Creative Belief
Q: How did Ace of Hearts come into being then, as a result of all this?
The idea grew from a close collaboration with Rick, shared values, and a belief that they could do things differently by combining creativity with commercial nous, leading to a formal launch in 2024.
Ace of Hearts and the Return of Creative Belief
Q: Take us through very briefly a little bit about you and how you came to putting Ace of Hearts together.
Martin Beverly describes a long arc from early agency roles to a desire to stretch creatively, culminating in the decision to quit and found Ace of Hearts in 2024 with a partner, motivated by entrepreneurial drive and a wish to experiment with a different model.
