  • Fantastic podcast

I started listening to this podcast for the skills discussions, but stayed for the real talk. It is so reassuring hearing men talk about emotions and care and community. This is such an important topic especially now and I’m here for it (even though I’m a woman).

  • Thank you

Thank you for all the great content. Just listened to Luke’s episode from last year (good timing) and just wanted to thank everyone involved. Luke has been a massive inspiration and role model for me as a man, and I know he’s had similar impacts on (perhaps) millions of other young men. Thank you for giving us a little peak behind the scenes and into his thought process!

  • A show you’ll ACTUALLY learn from.

I found this show because I was listening to Joe Flowers interviews and I was struck by how much better this interview was than the others. They really know how to ask some great questions and that makes all the difference. They take the time to provide more clarity when it’s needs and do a great job describing things from high and low levels so every listener can get something out of their conversations. This is definitely my new favorite podcast.

  • First time podcast listener-now fan for life

Simply magical. After the recent passing of a mentor, father figure, dear friend - Tom Brown Jr, someone posted a link to their episode with Jon Young.

I haven’t been so inspired since I sat the day I came home from war and sat in Tom’s backyard begging Tom for a spot as a Caretaker of his Tracker School.

There are many way for Dirt Time, most of us being trapped by our modern lifestyle and jobs, listening to this podcast is thus a gift for our daily lives

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why we need to be Wild with Jessica Carew Kraft
Q: What was the light bulb moment that made you investigate primitive skills or ancestral skills?
Jessica Kraft mentions her realization while working in Silicon Valley. Witnessing a wild beehive sparked her understanding that the natural world operates in ways that are sustainable and purposeful, contrasting with her tech-driven life that felt disconnected.
Wolves, Fishing, and Hunting updates with Joel and Cole
Q: If you were allowed to harvest a wolf, would you have spared the elk that day and taken an opportunity to take one of those predators out?
No, I wouldn't. Based on speaking to the biologist, no, absolutely not. The pack we have in this area is vital for maintaining balance.
Consume as little as possible with Gary Golding
Q: What are some of the craziest things you've eaten?
I've eaten a pot of maggots, dead animals, and even a dolphin, proving a point about waste and consumption.
Consume as little as possible with Gary Golding
Q: Which instance in particular do you feel like pushed you to your absolute limits?
The very first Naked and Afraid challenge because I almost thought I was going to die after eating a fruit that caused severe burns in my throat.
The language and life challenges of the Hadzabe Bushmen with Jeremy Coburn
Q: Is there a right way to visit the Hadza as a tourist?
It's important to avoid unregulated tourism and seek responsible options that benefit the Hadza community.
