I just started listening as I rewatch Mad Men, but I’m a huge nerd and am having a hard time getting past the lack of fact checking in the Ladies Room ep - Marge states that of course Peggy hasn’t heard of the Twilight Zone because it didn’t come out until 1960, but in fact it premiered in October 1959 - such an easy thing to verify. Makes me wonder what other “facts” they’re getting wrong.
They sell themselves short saying this is a feminist look at Madmen….this is how you’re supposed to look at Madmen. The ladies bring a lot of historical analysis to the show. Lady of the week piece is a little off topic for me but not always uninteresting. By far a great companion to a great show.
Frances has valuable insights but Marge speaks over and interrupts her so much that we rarely get to hear them.
I really want to like this show, I am about four episodes in, alongside a rewatch of the show. It is unfortunate: they have a lot of interesting things to say, but you have to listen to them talk about themselves for A LOT in order to get to the interesting content. They both say ‘um’ every 2-3 words, and one of them makes this puking sound every time she is disgusted. I get the sentiment, but the puking sound makes me feel sick, and I have now stopped listening for this specific reason. I feel ... more
