台灣猛禽研究會猛禽救傷站的王齡敏獸醫師說出這句話的時候，語氣裡有一種說不上來的無奈。原本該在天際盤旋的鳳頭蒼鷹，如今卻一隻接一隻因撞上玻璃而被送進站內。
你或許以為，能在都市天際線呼嘯而過的猛禽，必定是反應最快、最能應對環境的生存高手。但事實上，這群空中霸主也逃不過玻璃的致命陷阱。根據統計，台灣窗殺通報數最多的猛禽，正是近年大量進駐雙北、中南部都會區的鳳頭蒼鷹。

每年台灣有多少隻鳥因撞玻璃而死亡？沒有人知道確切數字。然而，光是「野鳥撞玻璃回報」臉書社團成立6年多來，就已累積超過5,500筆的回報紀錄。
社團版主謝季恆在台大生科系就讀時，有天接到某位老師的電話，說校園裡有一隻「綠色的鴿子」撞玻璃死亡。她趕赴現場後，才發現那其實是一隻綠鳩，而監視器剛好記錄下牠撞擊瞬間的身影。這起事件讓她意識到窗殺問題遠比預想中嚴峻，進而於2020年加入，並以窗殺為題撰寫碩士論文。

台北市近期出現漢他病毒感染死亡病例，讓都市鼠患帶來的傳染病威脅，再次成為社會關注的焦點。然而，當我們為了防疫，直覺地廣撒老鼠藥，期待能一勞永逸時，卻也讓隱形的鼠藥毒害悄悄透過食物鏈，在城市中擴散。
為了釐清都市猛禽遭殺鼠藥毒害的嚴重性，台灣猛禽研究會猛禽救傷站針對接收的北部地區猛禽死亡個體，取其肝臟與胃內容物進行毒物分析。結果顯示，2020年至2024年間送檢的106隻樣本中，有61％驗出殺鼠藥殘留；若限縮至台北、基隆都會區，檢出率更高達75％。
