  • Mixed but generally good

My kingdom never to hear a first internet memory again, and occasionally some of the guest picks are astoundingly lacking in self-awareness (whoever the “well MY husband brags about me” pick-me on a recent ep was seemed so oblivious I had to switch off for my own sanity) but the show has massively improved since Kate Lindsay took over and it’s generally a solid listen with some good insights into online discourse.

Jump scare EVERY episode ending. It’s always just over. Sometimes I feel like the wrap up cuts off the last speaker 😂Seriously love the show, though.

  • Great way to stay in the know when you’re no longer chronically online

I deleted all my social media a year ago to let my mind breathe, but I do miss the gossip of the online world. This show is a great way to know what’s up without getting sucked into it. The hosts are smart, funny, and show a lot of compassion, even to the wildest weirdos who are currently enjoying their 15 minutes of internet fame.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Personal Essay Is Back. The Internet Isn't Ready.
Q: How did the personal essay boom shape careers for women writers in the 2010s?
It created a pipeline where intimate, timely pieces could propel writers into staff roles at major outlets, book deals, and broader fame, as publishers and editors valued candid storytelling that sparked discourse.
Bosses, Stop Using AI And Do Your Job
Q: Aside from the downsides, are there any promising ways AI could help in the workplace?
There are constructive uses when AI is properly constrained, used to scan and summarize information, or query databases to support decision-making. However, many real-world uses discussed by workers involve AI being asked to perform judgment-heavy tasks or generate communications, which often backfires and creates more work due to errors or misalignment with human context.
Bosses, Stop Using AI And Do Your Job
Q: What is your attitude or stance on AI in the workplace?
The stance is skeptical and principled: AI is not a cure-all, it often dehumanizes work, can cause environmental harm and ethical issues, and when misused it adds more work rather than reducing it. The conversation emphasizes understanding both the limits and the potential uses of AI, differentiating between tasks it can assist with and tasks it should not replace, especially in areas like feedback and decision-making.
"Lip Filler Accent" Is Infecting TikTok (and Us)
Q: What purpose does lip filler accent serve in the internet age?
She suggests it functions as a status symbol and a signal of grooming and upkeep, reflecting broader social dynamics around aesthetics and comfort with cosmetic procedures.
"Lip Filler Accent" Is Infecting TikTok (and Us)
Q: What is lip filler accent? How did you come up with it?
Alex explains she started saving videos showing the pattern, realized it was a distinct way of speaking tied to pursed lips and reduced lip movement, and later argued it represents a broader influencer voice trend rather than a standalone quirk.
