I enjoyed this show, until I started really listening to it. It’s not cultural analysis and yet also not really news (as they obviously don’t fact-check or research). Candice and Kate ramble and complain or trill with excitement with no actual idea how the entertainment industry (or any industry) works. There’s zero nuance allowed, just jumped-to conclusions and worst case scenarios or blind fandom. GenZ is so much smarter than this. Hey Slate, it’s totally possible to find hosts with journalist... more
Buncha snowflake losers targeting this podcast. My favorite episodes are the ones where you address some of the more complicated issues but I’m here for all of it. This is one of my go-to podcasts, especially when I need a little bit of a break from heavier content. I may tune in for lighter content but still appreciate that the hosts care about issues that matter. Thank you both!
there seriously needs to be some fact checking, more research, or experts on these episodes! for example, you talked about dan and phil and said when they both came out they also announced they were together? that certainly never happened lol. also in your latest SNL episode, you claim that Jeremy Culhane is a viral tik tok comedian, but you fail to mention that he’s been performing with UCB for years (the normal SNL route). sad because i love the topics you choose and the hosts are fun to liste... more
Kate Lindsay constantly feels like she is preaching and lecturing at me, as opposed to offering analysis of internet culture. Also, if you’re a host of culture, you should probably know most of the pillars of culture, and hg does not. Poor Candice is constantly trying to make the show light and fun and thought- provoking, while Kate drags it under water and sounds like a hall monitor telling me why I shouldn’t like something. She really has nothing to say and is very boring/ annoying. Liked the ... more
I thought it would be a quippy show following trendy topics with an elevated commentary. The show turned out to be ran in a way for elder millennials or boomers to connect with their kids. At no point did I feel like I was actually listening to cultural critique or just fun banter. A true runt of the litter in all the other fab slate pods.
