  • ‘Marks’ as in ‘stains’

We get it - Simon Marks doesn’t like Donald Trump. But why should his personal prejudice be allowed to twist factual presentation? He’s just jealous he’s not a person of consequence, or destiny, unlike The Don. SAD!

  • ‘Don’t phone me at work!’

Look guys, Iain is very, very busy with his ghastly guests, yeah, so only phone in if you agree with him, or you’ll make him all prickly. You’re lucky to have him!

  • I love the show BUT

I love listening to Iain but of late the quality of the podcast has been poor. It starts off nicely and then its chopped up, callers are “Cut off” and you are listening to debate and its all over the place. Really does not reflect welll.

  • Putting the onion in opinion.

Iain’s big, benevolent bonce rises nightly like a moon over the cooling news fray, casting a dim, bland light on events. He’s not as smart as he seems, but who is? Ghastly guests, wiser callers, all add to the charm.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Has the President completely lost the plot?
Q: What is the likely impact of the Employment Rights Act on businesses?
Experts suggest it balances worker protections with the realities of running a business, noting day-one rights and sick-pay improvements, while arguing for careful implementation to avoid stifling growth.
Which side do you think has won the war in Iran?
Q: Who won the war according to the discussion?
Panelists largely agreed that there were no clear winners and that war costs and global economic impact marked a loss for all sides, with some arguing the Iranian regime weathered the assault while the U.S. and allies suffered reputational and strategic strain.
Do you have any faith of peace in the world?
Q: Do you think the Archbishop's Easter sermon can influence prospects for peace in the Middle East?
Yes, because religious leaders can shape public sentiment and encourage diplomacy, though concrete outcomes require political negotiation and credible mediators.
Could the war in Iran save Keir Starmer?
Q: Should Britain have allowed US forces to use UK bases during the Iran conflict?
Debate centers on de-escalation versus commitment; some argue access to bases would have signaled stronger involvement, others caution against entanglement in a controversial war.
Could the war in Iran save Keir Starmer?
Q: Has Keir Starmer's judgment on Iran changed public perception of his leadership?
The panel notes mixed signals: public polls show some improvement, but overall trust and long-term judgment remain critical; Mandelson-related revelations threaten to overshadow his Iran decisions.
