I listened to a few current episodes and I am now listening from the start. As a man in my 40s who just left a fundamentalist high control Christian church this reflection and conversation is very insightful and helpful. Thank you for making this show and I hope it continues to help people like me who were drawn to these spaces and are rebuilding, recovering and finding themselves.
Yes to everything she said! The stuff about politics and internalized fundamentalism is SO important. Also the concept of sexuality and consent is huge! I’m revamping my value system ALL THE TIME! Just recently I noticed how keeping promises compromises genuine consent. Now honoring consent is the greater value in my house.
I was never involved in fundamentalism and have never even been particularly religious but I still thoroughly enjoy this podcast and the hosts. It’s just very well done and the stories are compelling to listen to. Great job guys!
