  • Content 5 stars- Audio 2 stars

I really enjoy the topics, host and guest speakers however the audio is unlistenable. I am not sure if it’s a mic issue but before every speaker, you can hear their inhale almost as a very loud distracting gasp. I have to turn off every episode that it happens on. Which is a shame because the content is so great. I listen to a lot of content and have not heard this on other pods.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Culture by Design: Building Values into the Systems that Run Your Business
Q: How do you connect values to concrete outcomes like behaviors and competencies in an organization?
Start with clearly identified values, then check if what you say matches what people feel and experience. Tie values into hiring decisions, create reward programs that reinforce those values, and integrate them into competencies so managers have a structured way to discuss behavior and performance. This alignment helps sustain culture as the company grows.
Culture by Design: Building Values into the Systems that Run Your Business
Q: So you have talked about culture from this perspective, that it's built by design. What experiences really helped you learn that culture isn't accidental?
Early in my career, at UCLA in the Rec Department, I saw how broken dynamics and lack of collaboration created friction. That triggered a deliberate culture change moment where empowering students and aligning cross-department collaboration became the priority, and I realized culture was something you actively design, not leave to chance.
Human-Centered Leadership Strategies: Building Trust and Psychological Safety
Q: How can leaders build psychological safety when trust is already low?
By being transparent, showing up consistently, keeping commitments, and providing honest reasons when certain requests or benefits cannot be granted, while still acknowledging and addressing feedback.
Human-Centered Leadership Strategies: Building Trust and Psychological Safety
Q: Madeline, thanks for joining. What does leading with humanity look like in practice on a manufacturing floor or production environment?
She explains that leaders model behavior on the floor, engage in real, direct safety and development conversations, and balance metrics with compassionate coaching to help people grow while ensuring safety and quality.
Beyond the Stereotypes: Helping Gen Z and Every Generation Thrive Together
Q: What is one practical step leaders can take to bridge multigenerational gaps in their next team meeting?
Start the meeting with five minutes of casual, non-work conversation to build human connection, followed by a clear plan showing how the issues will be addressed, which helps all generations feel valued and heard.
