Listening to the first episode the story about the mom being irritated by the chronically ill friend… I was like ARE YOU TELLING ON MY MOM? I needed this so bad. Can’t wait to learn more about how to heal and do better.
Welcome to our Nightmare episode resonated SO HARD! Finally, I can hear about other people being triggered to dissociate/depersonalize. I’ve done loads of therapy. But I still felt so alone when trying to explain these pre-panic attack moments where I would have psychotic/delusional thinking. You know, you can’t talk about this sort of thing, because people will think you’re crazy and possibly dangerous.
I love listening to you both. Your personal/professional knowledge, insight, honesty and vulnerability (as well as strength!) is so refreshing. Incredibly validating for anyone who had a narcissistic parent. I have laughed and cried listening. Thank you so much. Podcast medicine I didn’t know I needed, you feel seen and hugged at the same time.
Excellent theme and content. I respect your perspectives and lived experiences. My mother will roll in her grave or churn in her urn that we finally have her figured out, but she’s not dead yet.
So wild (!) the things I’m learning about myself and experiences as well as feelings being validated. Also living in “dishonest peace”, as another reviewer said, and don’t know that I have what it takes to cut off this part of my life. But so appreciative of the information and the way you’re presenting it.
