I only knew John from Taskmaster and as a comedian but he is a wonderful empathetic interviewer. The two interviews that have stood out for me have been Fatiha El-Ghorri and Pippa York - both women who have been through a lot and have and are still finding ways to deal with their trauma and carry on. John gave them both time and space to talk - asking gentle probing questions when appropriate
I don’t like John - he doesn’t like dogs & he is much too woke for my liking but he does have some good guests.
Amazing podcast that really really got me through some hard moments - I’m still struggling with sobriety but this podcast definitely made me feel less alone and a failure
I really appreciate the openness and honesty in which John and his guests discuss the subject at hand. One of the tells about how unpretentious this podcast is are the snapshots that accompany each episode. They depict two normal people getting their photo taken and not a Photoshopped Botoxed Posey Posey pair. I find this podcast very interesting and enlightening.
This is such a fantastic podcast. John is one of the best interviewers out there, perfectly gauged, empathetic and intelligent. An essential and enlightening pod
