I have only discovered this show this year. Don’t even know if you are still doing the podcast or will ever see this review. Totally fascinating. Love your banter & do hope we hear more from you!

I found this podcast via Des Latham's "Anglo Boer war" podcast when he mentioned he had beena guest for a review of Breaker Morant and Zulu dawn. I listen to this whilst swimming and find it educational, entertaining and humourouos. A superb job gentlemen, thank you.
Great information, interesting facts, and stories ,,,
I enjoy the hosts , and their interaction with each other ..
I love the show. It is a great premise of examining both history and its film. The host make the experience both fun and informative. I particularly enjoy the more military part given Martin’s background.
Have to looked into the film “The Green Book”? Well worth the watch given the current culture clash about BLM.

I’m a newbie to this podcast so I’ve got a lot of binging to do but the few episodes I’ve heard have been awesome.
Cracking Podcast!
I know you’re looking for more female-lead films - how about ‘Carve Her Name With Pride’ about the SOE operative in WW2? Stars Virginia McKenna.
Great job, guys! I just finished the “First Man” episodes in the hopes that I’d find out why I really didn’t like this movie and everyone else loved it. I’m generally interested in space history (I live in Huntsville, Alabama, where Werner Von Braun landed when he left Germany) and I generally love everything Ryan Gosling does, but putting them together didn’t quite work out so well for me. Glad to know I wasn’t the only one!
A couple of suggestions for your maybe/maybe not list ...

Great job, guys. I just finished the First Man episodes in the hopes that I’d find out why I really didn’t like First Man. I’m generally interested in space history and love Ryan Gosling but putting them together didn’t work out so well for me. Glad to hear I wasn’t the only one. A suggestion for your maybe/maybe not list ... 1983’s Silkwood with our old friend Meryl Streep, Kurt Russell, and Cher. Great movie! Keep up the great work!
This podcast provides an excellent combination of history and enterainment, with Andrew and Martin providing thoguhtful analysis of both, with respect to the movies they review. This analysis is delivered with voices that are very easy on the ear and a sometimes irreverent sense of humour. The podcast has opened my eyes to history that I was not aware of and has also enhanced my understanding of history that I was already aware of. Cannot recommend highly enough.
I thought, by the title, that this would have gravitas, but it is too opinionated in a superficial way. For example, it’s analysis of the Union Station sequence in The Untouchable boils down to “too long”; they mention Potemkin, but expected more from a “history” podcast.
Stumbled on this looking for a podcast to support fill road time on a business trip. Listened to the Dam Busters and Breaker Morant and was hooked. Enjoyed the guest podcast historians on both episodes as I listen to both WWII and the Anglo Boer War.
If you love films you’ll love this podcast. Films based on historical events can be very interesting but sometimes you’re left wondering just how accurately the film represented real events. No longer! In this always interesting and often fascinating podcast Martin
These guys take a subject and parse the truth from fiction in movies based on real events. When needed, they bring an expert or two in to provide depth into the subject. Very well done!
Cracking Podcast!
I’m so glad I stumbled on this podcast & these 2 hosts when I was looking for a podcast on “Breaker Morant” & found this. That was a great episode, but I quickly found that all the other episodes were just as good. If I could make a suggestion, or two, they would be: “Ashes & Diamonds” a classic of Polish new wave cinema directed by the brilliant Andrej Wadja. The other is a Soviet film about the Nazi occupation of Belarus called “Come and See” from 1985. It is not an easy film to watch. But it’... more
