  • Poor sound quality discouraging listening

I listen to a lot of health and technology podcasts. Lack of adequate microphone quality and sound engineering on the HIMSS podcast drives me away from becoming a regular listener. The host’s issues with with vocal fry and nasality (get some vocal coaching) can be mediated by better equipment. But when the guest is talking in an echo chamber, the sound issues are seriously distracting. In the case of May 9, 2025 episode they were unbearable; I stopped listening. a little sound engineering might ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

HIMSSCast: Insights for addressing patient concerns about AI
Q: Last question. What are some ways organizations can address patient and public concerns about their use of AI?
Be very clear about the why behind AI initiatives, communicate transparently about data use, involve trusted influencers, establish clear accountability, and stay disciplined in following these practices to maintain trust.
Health Catalyst Presents: Drive value with data integration, not new AI tools
Q: Why is there a gap between AI hype and actual ROI in health systems?
Hughes argues the gap stems from focusing on volume of data and tools rather than the quality of decisions, supported by an evidence base and strong change management to implement insights.
HIMSSCast Presents: Healthcare Without Borders 1: Why Cross-Border Healthcare?
Q: Petra, let's start with the human reality. Who actually travels across borders for healthcare and why? Is this a niche phenomenon or something more significant than the headline numbers suggest?
The headline numbers are modest, but the pattern is much larger: people near internal borders travel for practical access, cost, or faster treatment, and the motivations extend to waiting times, access to specialists, and perceived quality differences, making cross-border care a real and growing option.
HIMSSCast: How to choose the right AI fit for the revenue cycle (brought to you by SuperDial)
Q: What would you recommend to other executives looking to deploy AI in their revenue cycles?
Start by vetting vendors and their integration with your existing systems, build a relationship-based approach rather than starting from scratch, and deploy in digestible chunks so teams can adapt and you can realize incremental benefits.
HIMSSCast: How to choose the right AI fit for the revenue cycle (brought to you by SuperDial)
Q: How does that work if there's a revenue cycle for the lab, and not a single Northwell-wide system?
We operate with a common revenue cycle management system but with added functionality from our vendor, and we partner closely to tailor it to our lab needs. This collaboration helps ensure the tool fits our workflows rather than forcing us to change everything at once.
